I’m surprised one of the 6 cylinders has not already been in touch to offer it a new home.

I've given @Anthony a pm and first refusal which I haven't heard back from yet but equally it's not been too long since I sent it, otherwise bloody happily and I'd probably put the arm on at the FoD for them if it came to it, it's tested ubtilnsoetember, £17 a month to tax 👌 She's getting mildly tatty but isn't end of life yet. But I can only have one car on the road at a time, and the dirty deed is done now and Ive got it's replacement

Thanks for offering me first refusal Sam :)

I've replied to your PM - price was more than reasonable and the issues I don't think should be too difficult to sort out, but for reasons explained I've had to put my sensible hat on (boo!) and say no on this occasion.  Even got as far as getting insurance quotes etc - the joy of being well into my 40's meant that I could have purchased, insured and taxed it and still had change out of £600 - there's one for people saying that there's no longer cheap, usable cars out there!

I'm hoping that Mr and Mrs 6 cylinder can take it on though as it would be a real shame if it ends up going over the bridge - VTS aside, I think these 110HDI Estates are the pick of the bunch.  I'm more than happy to extend my offer of popping over with my Lexia setup should they, or anyone else local, need it.

No worries at all! It gives me an answer and I'll try and get it saved somehow. Will pepper the citroen Facebook groups with some up to date photos and a better idea of how it's fucked over the weekend.

Might adjust the title of this thread now just incase anyone here does fancy a hopefully simple project and save it from becoming a fridge

The HDi estates are great an cars, I miss the pre-facelift one that I had.

No but I'll facilitate a shitely oop north... The deadline of the 18th is to get it off the road. That could be onto my mums drive for a confirmed short period of time.

Can be really cheap too, cheaper than scrap for the right plan and shennanigans.

If it comes to it, I will say Do Not Scrap and I would have it back off you.

Absolutely no idea what I'd do with it, but that's not really the point.

(also, the suspension issue is almost guaranteed to be the P-bush.  Very easy fix:  Grind old one off.  Twat new one on.)

I'm leaning more and more to asking @Six-cylinder if I can take it to the FoD regardless and we worry about it then... It's been a fantastic 40k miles for £150 and minimal further expenditure and it needs to not die. But I can't have it on the road for long

Mot until September so fix and worry later. Had both the front wheels balanced, it rides superbly (or will do).

You are welcome to bring it to the FoD for the short term and I can give you a lift home.

I'll give you 4 biscuits if you wanted to drive it for the spring/summer till the test runs out? Might even look at fixing it assuming it's not terminal

Thanks. You are plan C, but as I told mum, only once a firm further plan is in place (as I'd be driving it further from asm than it is now...)

Need to move it out onto the road so I've got my allocated parking space ready to shit myself trying to thread a massive qashqai into it! I used to do it with the xm and Zafira fine, must remember that

In October I was looking for minimum cost car for winter transport to keep the Morris 1300 off salty roads. I could not find anything and have spent the winter in the Carlton Estate and Volvo V70, both are too big and thirsty as an errands cars really.

Now the Mazda 323 GLX 1.5 is now very close to being ready for the road and then my Morris can come out to play again.

As we went into winter I would have jumped at the chance of running around in the Xsara, but now it would just sit doing nothing.

Tbh I'd not have put you through it.. In the winter it's a hateful shit that runs bloody cold. If it's not on the m40 the temp needle drops 😂 Takes ages to De fog and De ice after it's been cold etc...

That's one of the things I'm hoping the qq will be better at

I have been wondering that, especially this winter. Was a new one with the waterpump and fresh coolant 5 years ago, I'd have chucked a new one on if I was doing the belts again this year, but I won't be now 😢 (always had planned to if/when I fixed the airbag light)

I'm going to knock £2.50 off any potential price for this as I nicked it's back wiper earlier!

Cut the blade down and refitted it to the Qashqai's arm

and now I have a rear blade on the car. (which I'll test later once the qbond dries I useds to replace the bit of the housing I cut off to make sliding it all back in much easier)

I've borrowed the battery too but only borrowed. It's not the best battery anyway, it's not a selling point other than it does turn the car on 👌

OK, I've had a look and.....

It's a very worn p bush! Nothing is actually broken, I took pics of each corner to be sure

The fucked bit as confirmed by someone who knows (and it looks fucked)

The rest seems fine. Was easier to take these photos and zoom in after.

If you put a bar on the wheel nuts you can move the wheel. When driving on really shitty surfaces you feel it moving about a tiny bit, but I'm now happy nothing is fully snapped off.

So, this wants saving from scrap, and with just some fresh bushes and fixing the airbag light she'll be grand!

£200 ono? It's only insured until the 18th so I'll need a firm plan by then. Taxed to get you home too. Mot until 03/09/2025, was a clean pass last year (as I got the airbag light off by fiddling wires and stuff 🤷

Comes with free dirt and i could be persuaded to buy you a new rear wiper arm for it after I stole it yesterday. Can keep the nice Pioneer head unit too, and my usb stick full of music. Will be a while until I get into audio in the qashqai and when I do I want to go android auto anyway.

Your brother is the first in line so far 😂 is he aware it's a mild but driveable project?

Stick an ad in the for sale section in case anyone hasn't looked at this thread if the above lead doesn't sell it!

Yes indeed, he’s not quite the tinkerer I am but he’s pretty handy.  Looking forward to the challenge!

Awesome, thanks!

I don’t know if I can get PMs yet, I’ve been a lurker for over a decade but didn’t register until recently.

Aah. Fair enough then. Are you local to me? Want to come over and see it? (I think you only need 10 posts to pm so we'll soon get there. And I can work out if I need to finish cleaning it out tomorrow 😂

He’s about an hour away, once we can PM I’ll trade phone numbers and he can arrange to come see it. He might take me but I’m in West Wales normally
