Charles Owen are still in business, although they concentrate on equestrian safety nowadays.

Looks like the sound of Bow bells has finally driven them mad though as a quick google shows they've moved the factory and offices to Wrexham.

They've been in Wrexham for donkeys' years. They are one of the biggest safety brands in the horse world, catering for pony-mad kids and professional jockeys alike. They worked with the record-breaking NH champ (Sir) A.P. McCoy to produce a helmet specifically for jockeys; the "APM" is now in its second generation. 

I didn't fall for the marketing hype, and so I wear the equivalent made by Champion, Charles Owen's nearest rivals.

The Coldwell version looks more convincing, and it's cheaper.
