Just a short update - not sure if this is a fault that has 'fixed itself' - but the electric sunroof appears to open and close fine, using both the tilt and slide.

Which means the only remaining known issue before the MOT tomorrow is a non-functional electric drivers window, which isn't a failure item but it can be an annoyance if you use toll roads and car parks with ticket/token barriers, or just like to have the window open when driving. That's a suspected regulator as the motor whizzes when you press the button.

MOT is booked for 8:30am. Let's see if this will pass... If it does, someone is going to get a roadworthy, good condition, low mileage car with some pretty nice features for either the price of their roffle tickets or £250.

The winner (hopefully not me) should do a burnout on the shagged tyres....

It'd do it quite well - I'm fairly sure the 1.6 engine still has most of its small complement of horses!

Please don't do it here though, I'm already regarded as the 'most likely to be a chav' on this street without you helping to confirm their worst fears. Property prices, etc.

That said, if you reverse the sentiment somewhat, you could shag in it and burn it out, although again, please don't do that here.

Some more photos to whet your collective appetites...

Lights (excluding brake lights as I was using my legs outside the car) - no disco features here, they just work as they should:

small surface rust bleb (not gone crispy - yet) which looks like the sill suffered a small impact. Would be good to get some rust converter on this and then paint, as the sills (as well as the rest of the bodywork) appears solid.

If you have an excess of saliva in your mouth and/or your heart rate has elevated as a result of looking at these pictures, you are a sad individual and you need help. Your prescribed remedy is to own this fine vehicle.

A years MOT'D car for £250, fuckin hell. Surely someone does a buy

It's a really good, solid car too, it deserves to be used as I reckon it has a lot of life left in it (it's only done 33,230 miles), and only front tyres as advisories on a 12 month ticket.

As far as I can tell, everything bar the driver's side window works. It even looks presentable, if a bit boring!

As a long-term prospect, along with tyres and tracking, the cam belt ought to be looked at and changed if necessary - someone on here did ask about that and although the history is extensive, there isn't a receipt or invoice that says that its been done. Phil isn't particularly technically minded, he just let the garage get on with it. But for £250, while you can afford to play cam belt roulette it'd be a shame to cube it if that went for the sole reason the car being cheaper than the parts + labour. If it can be diy'd, I reckon that would be 'proper autoshite' as I don't see any reason for it to deteriorate rapidly if it's looked after and maintained.
