AWA 201M was @Slowsilver's first Maxi in the late seventies (pic taken Sep 1979). Tax due 1/10/84 so long gone now.

The Mini was SVV 974, not in DVLA records at all.

I don't know, but it's good to hear from you.

I’ve found a device the forum works on. ;)

No one came back to me about the fact that the forum just stopped working. :(

Hopefully someone will be able to identify the Rover Register from the partial rear view. ;)

This one has reappeared on Facebook marketplace after being completely bloody ruined by persons unknown for an equally unknown reason.

I’m half tempted to buy it and get it under a mega hot industrial steam cleaner and try to restore it to its former glory.  Even the dashboard and engine have had the same treatment!

It’s going to be difficult to see how good or bad it is under all that paint. Is it a rotter or worth doing?

They've already made a start, and it's cheap enough. I would think the paint would put a lot of people off, so you could get a bargain

I had one around 1976 to 1981. I bought a new Golf GTI in April 1981. It was a good bit faster.

My latest rescue! :)

Longest I’ve known one to be off the road for: 32 years.

Was vandalised after its garage got smashed up by school kids many years ago and has covered less than 24k miles from new.

Brought off the solicitor following the death of the first owner. It took six months for the executors to agree to my purchase.

@keef I don't suppose you ever heard of the 1750 I bought for my wife, had the reg VPK 2S.  Not sure if that was original or 'cherished' but number plate dealers weren't interested.

Wow. Is that the lowest mileage known - or is there some unicorn with 800 miles on the clock?

Does Gaydon have a Maxi?

Looks like the original exhaust.

Not aware of any “unicorn”, but it is possible.

Two Maxis at Gaydon I think. The last off the line and the Prince Michael cable changer.

British Motor Museum, Gaydon.

Exhaust blew on first startup. :(

BJ on her third replacement rad! This one looks terrible but holds water under pressure, so fingers crossed. Mounting bolts were seized solid, so had to grind plates off leaking rad and rivet to “new” one.

I found a higher resolution photo of the car my dad learnt to drive in back in 1980, a '74 HL:

Any idea on what the silver BL colour is called?

Mirage. There’s one for sale at auction atm. ;)

That Manor Park Classics kid on YT has made a couple of cracking Maxi videos recently - worth a watch if these tickle you in pleasurable places.

What Rover Register was “next door”?

Rover Sports Register, started for pre P4 cars , still going strong. My membership lapsed decades ago.  I had two P2s, a 1936 12 tourer dug out of an East end bomb site after many years, and a 14 hp sports saloon dragged out of a multi storey after it had been abandoned there. Both had to go due to house moves and domestic disapproval

Ps - lovely pale blue maxi crossing Exeter High Street a few days ago , would have another one as even the tired specimen I drove for a while 35 years ago was a good drive
