Thanks for the UFO explanation  -  I thought inboard Alfa discs were bad enough

a royal pita and very expensive, the disc is the ufo and the caliper sits inside the disc

Ahhh... Vorsprung Dirk and other running-dog German technicians have clearly ripped off the ZAZ Tavria, here – though the Tavria has superior two-piece UFOs featuring modern cast aluminium.

In the case of the Tavria, this is a fine piece of Socialism-led design, its inelegant overcomplexity justifying the employment of 4000 victorious workers on the Zaporizkyi Avtomobilebudivnyi Zavod UFO-manufacturing committee.

In the case of Quattro... I don't really understand. Was a Stakhanovite infiltrator in the design department trying to advance Audi on the road to socialism?

  • My favourite car I've ever driven
  • INSURANCE WAS HALF PRICE OF ANY CAR I'VE DRIVEN BEFORE!
  • Turns heads everywhere you go, seriously, look in the rear view when you drive past people
  • I had people driving parallel taking photos of it down the dual carriageway last Thursday on the way to Sainsburys and also someone wanting to buy it at the jetwash yesterday
  • People just approach you to chat about it and I've had so many casual 'offers' on it in a month

  • 24 and a bit years over, am I right in thinking it's tax free after 25 years?!

Very very very rare car now

Oh FFS just Shut Up now!!!

Apparently people are queing up to buy it, people making so many casual offers etc strange why he needs ebay to sell this very very very rare headturner.

Drivel indeed.

He obviously loves and cherishes it ( but not enough to complete the rubbing strip on the front and rear wings or to match the front and back bumpers!).

Utter bollocks, when i had a Mk3 Escort most people wouldn't even look twice at it, let alone when i had my Mk4, I think it's all in the sellers head.

Posted

And I can't believe the cars I've had in the past and virtually given away that would now attract a fat scene tax. Bugger!

The UFO brakes are excellent, the problem is cost of replacement. £225 + vat each for the disks and £140 + vat for the pads.

The early S4's like mine also came with UFO's but I swapped the struts/calIpers/disks with HP2 ones from a later car.

Eric Jackson and Ken Chambers posing with their Ford Corsair in front of the Windsor Castle following their race with the luxury liner from Cape Town to Southampton. .... The caption for the photo on the Ford media site claims that Jackson and Chambers beat the liner in the race, but the website for the London-Algiers-Cape Town Rally notes that the results of the race weren’t so cut-n-dry...

CORSAIR vs LUXURY LINER

ROUND TWO: THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL

and with a much lower budget

OMG, look at this stunning piece of machinery injecting a bit of life into the grey British landscape.

Go look at all the photos. Have you ever seen any car look more out of place than this one when juxtaposed with dull little British houses?

That DeSoto looks fantastically out of place amongst the brick semis. Looks good value too.

That Metro seller is such a tool. If he's going to scrap it for £100 or so why doesn't he start the bidding at that?

He's not going to scrap it, he's just threatening to, so that metro lovers are like omgnoibuy, though he's an idiot because that won't happen.
