I saw this on a beavertail, heading south on the M74 last week. Still sporting its South African number plates. Thought it was funny to see it heading back south having travelled all the way from the southern hemisphere. I notice the Granada above is a ZA car located in Scotland so perhaps the same folks brought them both in.

Be careful cave selling them

£2,000 for what's basically a kit seems expensive, but I think it's fairly priced for what you get. Plus, if you put it together you'd have a very very long time to get your money's worth out of it by simply popping to the shop a mile away.

There was a time (about 2001) when you could not give this shit away.  The only thing worse looking than a 4 door Nova is a 5 door Nova.  They just look shit.

The 3 and 2 door were so much better looking.

Absolutely no one wanted a 2 door Nova back in the nineties.  When I was in the trade back then we ended up with two, a biege one and a pale blue one.  Couldn’t give the poxy things away.  We ended up using them as loan cars most of the time.  I think they stayed with the garage when the recievers arrived, so I’d guess they just punted them out to the loacl auctions.  At least a 4 door was useable, but the hatches were much much easier to sell.

I've always rather liked the 4 door, a sort of large car in miniature.  The 2 door had been discontinued with the final facelift anyway, so wasn't an option on a J reg.

Wouldn’t that be described as a 4 door saloon with the hatchback being a 5 door?

I don’t think they’re familiar with the concept of the monocoque. All the failures listed say  chassis , so as the bits they can see are ok, the body must be ok. Right?

Structure or chassis I believe to be the catch all MOT term. It looks alright from a cursory glance at the picture though it's too late to fashion a massive under tray since its already failed a test.

Weird. The carbed 1.8 of the same age we had was 92 bhp. The 2.0i was 115 or of it had the SEH 130. Was never 83 bhp.

Maybe that's the difference between having a cat or not? I remember around that time there were versions of the Kadett GSI with or without one. The GSIs without had a few bhp more...
