“Hi, i’d Like a Rover please, a comfortable exec cruiser”

”We have a wide range of 75s if sir would like”

”No I was thinking something a bit more classic... oh and I should mention I would like it to be completely and utterly fucked”

”Step right this way sir, I have exactly what you’re after”

This one is a bit special to me at least. It’s my first Jag and featured in the first proper thread I did on Autoshite. I sold it long a go and the guy who bought it has had 18 months loyal service, no real problems and it has passed two MOTs. It may be scabby but it’s actually a brilliant car. It’s solid in all the right places. Chances are it might go through very cheap as it looks pretty sorry for itself in the photos (it isn’t really, just scabby). I’m still in touch with the owner and he has had a great and remarkably inexpensive time with the car. Best car purchase he ever made according to him apparently.

It really is weapons grade Autoshite. I hope it lives on for a bit longer.

It went through on auction recently with no MOT at roughly the starting price here. Now it has an MOT. I talked to the seller during the previous auction, who revealed that the diff had gone and a replacement was included (he didn't put that in the listing mind!). So now it's for sale again with the MOT and the diff still gone. Would be the perfect XJR6 donor car. If the timing were better I would probably buy it myself.

Yes, unbelievable for a 1.4.

Edit - turns out its a 1.6, but still poor for that engine size.

£325 p/a road tax.

I'm out.

Why?

That's 350 for the car, 325 for the tax, 325 for the insurance. On the road for £1000.

Assume 10k a year the tax and insurance account for 6.7p a mile.

There's no depreciation.

Or buy a car for £2k with zero tax and loose 350 quid  a year ?

It's all the same.

Mainly because I could buy any number of similarly priced and sized motors for the same, or less (GMs almera for instance), that won't ream me on road tax.

You won't find me disagreeing on the depreciation bit. A cost few consider.
