That's really cheap for a year long tested BX Diesel now, whats wrong with it, bar the obvious reasonably unpleasant mods?

64hp XUD9 in that as well, slooooooow.

It does seem decent for the coin.

One of the rear quarterlights does seem to be made of carrier bag.

The slowness appeals to me in a perverse way.

Does not mention the fact you will look like a complete tool trying to get your ticket at the Car Park entrance with a litter picker!!!

According to Wiki - an OHC engine, also a 1.2 OHV  (59bhp)

Posted

I had no idea they did a 1.3. Cam In Head engine?

They didn't - it was the Family OHC (Astra), also in the Ascona RWD. 75 bhp so it went along fairly well unlike a 1300 Capri or Cortina.

To rival the desperation of the 1300 Capri, Opel made a 1.2 Manta with the 1196 cc Kadett OHV donk.

Blimey I never knew they did a little OHC in rwd config. Are you sure that's right Rev? It's not a bored-out ohv effort?

Opel did the 1.2 OHV and the first Family 1 engine in 1979 for the FWD Kadett. The facelift B2 Manta used the 1800 Family II OHC. The 1.2 OHV was used in the Astra/Kadett. It cost buttons for GM to do this - they were profitable then. Getrag made the gearboxes.

I'm not 100% on the Ascona B using the Family 1 engine.
