This is what some people on here want me to buy just to see me suffer from terminal depression.

Only over my stinking decaying and rotting dead cadaver.

My potential father in law has the 520, in theory far more miserable as it lacks both the bhps and the mpgs (and is still on metric rims!), but it's a nice old boat so long as you don't expect it to drive like an M5.

And the "donor" one is a rebadged Suzuki Swift, so has no parts in common whatsoever.  Brilliant.

I think I can one up you on this front

2 X Subaru Justy

intention of making one good one out of the two

That'll be difficult seeing as one of them is a flippin' Vivio!

To be fair the 525 is reputed to be a far better car all round than the 520.  I had a 520 (for a short while) and it was possibly the worse driver's car I've ever owned. Even more lethargic than even the worse specification might suggest with handling more of blancmange than a Citroen 2cv with knackered shock absorbers.  Admittedly mine was an automatic, but otherwise in pretty reasonable shape. The 525 in comparison could actually be driven with some gusto, and get around corners.  Have to admit though., their drophead version used to twist n' shake around the scuttle.

Be the fucking star in a reasonably priced car.

Although I have to say this to our more junior members - when I was young, a Chevrolet looked like this:

The '59 Impala/Biscayne is so much sweeter than any of the over hyped Tri Chevy scrap. Cheaper too. Just like a 1960 Cadillac is the thinking man's '59.

With you on that maroon 525i. They are so good at being a car that they are utterly devoid of character. I've had several but have never wanted to keep one. At least the E32 (the same thing but bigger) has some eighties gansta cool going on.

Blimey that's a front engined La Z Boy :-D

I do not appreciate Chinese cars.

No, seriously, I do not.

In fact, I have very little time for all that Oriental fucking culture, if there is such a thing at all.

But man, do they work hard to make it difficult for me.

Well, have fun ordering spares for that.

Aligood is loaded with spares. :-D

Google translate is not foolproof :

"Curved sills of sills seriously corroded. Three berries to repair. Floor to redo in a few places. Textiles (curtains, seat covers) to be replaced at 70%. Partitions and structures rather in good condition. Very few misses. Complete shock organs, complete body parts."

Very cheap Mondeo estate with plenty of test but battery drain problem.  I'd just fit an isolator switch myself - these don't seem to mind having their electricity disconnected.  I mean yes you'll lose the stereo presets and have to reset the clock, but they don't completely shit themselves like PSA products seem to do.
