This bloke in Nottm/Kirkby on GummyBear comes along very regularly with overpriced shite but every so often he has some stupidly cheap chod, which he threatens to scrap in a week. Pick of the week are:

This Fester for £140 with MoT until 23 Dec 17 is tempting

This Punto for £140 has MoT until June 2018, but loads of advisories:

Go for the Fiesta. The 1.2 8v engines in those Puntos make them slower than a week in jail.

Episode 28 , series 5:  'Don't Fill With a Phat Hangover'

While participating in the Johnny Packets In The Back Game Show at the local TV station, the teens encounter a Transit made of wob, who steals a safe full of money and kidnaps the station manager. Is the Transit a hoax, or the result of some c*nt from an old garage employee seeking revenge for the cancellation of his welding job?

I reckon it looks fucking awful, but let's ask the experts:

What should we do, Scoob? Be seen in this or eat nuclear ice cream?

How the fuck can that have an MOT, imagine being the poor pedestrian that stepped in front of it, if the belt pulley doesn't chew you up the airbox is taking the top of your head off

It's from the same seller as that Colt. Lot of interesting background shite in that seller's listings, an early R8, fucked Montego, Sunny coupe, what looks to be a very early CR-X, 309(?) mk3 Astra estate, MG Montego, C32 Laurel... might be worth seeing if the guy has more listings on the way.

problem with using a K70 engine in an Ro80 is that the inline

remember the Ro80 was designed around a Wankel engine, which is very much smaller than a conventional motor. hence a short, wide engine bay.

plus finding a good, reconditioned NSU Wankel engine is along with Unicor shit and the Holy Grail, and completely unobtainable.

however the ford Germany V4 can still be found and can still be rebuilt, as it fitted allsorts of stuff over the years including SAAB. plus a newer Mazda Wankel is little better than the original NSU one, as all the RX8's for sale have fucked up engines. plus the newer engine is all electric everything, the NSU engine doesn't.

so a V4 engine is the sensible, and affordable solution to keeping a car on the road instead of sending the car off to the bridge.

You're talking total and utter bollocks I'm afraid, but thanks for the input

My sis passed her test/ran about in a V4 ;)

Done by the garage who specialised in this mod 'in period' - the adapter plate twixt V4/NSU Gbox was a kind of Maltese Cross shape & S/Steel... It was $hite and the lugs [onto flywheel] snapped & could be noted as a distinct Tinkk, Tinkk , Tinkk coming out of the bell housing at idle :(

I used to borrow it (as a nice change from my Yellow P.O. MM1000 van) and got girlfriend to sit on top, with seats tilted back. Hmm... Remember car but not girl lol

Rare Volvo 480 1.7 turbo automatic. Very rare car. This car has absolutely nothing wrong with it. Only fault it has is the information centre doesn't work.....

I don't normally like aftermarket wheels, but that looks lush.

It's difficult to imagine 2 engines less similar in characteristics than the bastard offspring of the Essex and the NSU version of Mr Wankel's fine doodlings; one is turbine smooth, revs to a gazillion RPM and isn't very torquey, the other rattles like a Petter AC1 with a knackered big end, doesn't rev and what torque it develops appears low down in the rev range. Ro80s need their original engines, if one cannot be found or afforded a Mazda trochoidal twirler can be fitted for not very much money and will suit the rest of the drivetrain far better than a big lump of FoMoCo cast iron.

It won't need one soon anyway!

As the owner of an original Ro80 and one with a V4 I respectfully disagree.

The conversions use the Essex V4 which is a dog.

Used rotary engines appear from time to time, you take your chances like any other used engine.

Rebuilt engines are available from several places in Europe.

No one in their right mind would attempt an RX8 engine swap, many have been converted to Mazda power using the 12a and 13b engines from the RX7.

Mine will be converted back to Wankelz shortly and the V4 will be going in the skip. I can't think of an engine further away from what NSU and Wankel envisaged.
