-Dorchester Red and Aubergine p/line interior. I think it saw this for sale on the OC forum for about the same as the current bid. Decent spec, but scruffy.

Let him know I hate using the phone, please let me know reg blah blah blah so he replies

"I don't like giving out reg numbers I will tell you it is a 53 plate but I will not give out the full reg, id theft is a growing business"

Its a Club SE spec, but its a one-previous-owner V6 manual with 90k on. All-important National Trust sticker too. Its £300 cos the clutch is tired. Its that a mega brain damage job to do? I WANT.

a chap off of the 75 owners club will come to yout place of work or home and supply and fit a clutch (an LUK one) and a metal slave cylinder (a Landrover one) and the clutch master cylinder (again an LUK part) all for £800-odd.

which since it meant him lying on the floor, undoing the front sub-frame and then manhandling the gearbox out of the way before reassembling the car, all on his own and all in a couple of hours i didn't think it was out of the way at all.

it would i guess depend on how much you either liked the car or how much you were willing to put in it.

as i like mine, and the clutch was utterly buggered then it was either get the car fixed, or call the scrap man to come and take it away. ok so i spenmt what the car was worth, and maybe some more too, but i like the car, and if i was to buy something else, who's to say that a few months in the replacement car (what ever it was) wouldn't need a load of money throwing at it?

There was one of these on the show scene over here about 25 years ago, based on a Toronado (probably "easier" to stretch being FWD).   It generally appeared towing a Bianchina Giardinera (posh Fiat 500 estate) in matching colour scheme.

You must mean a Bianchina Panoramica, surely. The Giardiniera was actually the Fiat 500 estate.

Oh is it nice to be such an anorak...

I messaged him with the reg yesterday evening saying I had driven round till I saw his car.  Hopefully he is suitably freaked out.
