We are not talking about a - well, meanwhile also not that numerous - post war Rover here.

This is a 1937 example and thus one of the very, very few, that survived the war and its immediate aftermath.

Something that should be taken into consideration when taking it on.

Yes, of course one can stick whatever engine in it and even paint it wedding white for that unique business opportunity.

Heck, race it, if you must.

I don't think its possible to take it on without being aware that it is a 1937 car and that it has thus survived the war.

The fact that it has a Pinto in will make it a bit cheaper than might otherwise be the case and make it easier and cheaper to drive it to work now and then. The new owner might like to put it back to standard with a pukka Rover engine or he might just want to rumble round in it as-is taking advantage of 1980's carburettor and ignition technology. Wheres the issue?

You can laminate a Picasso and hang it in the shit house. Where's the issue?

A Rover P3 ain't a Picasso. It's not even a Hirst. There's a reason most of them haven't survived, because DULL, just like most other 30s British cars

What the hell's suddenly happened to 405 prices, these two wouldn't have fetched half of this last year.

Perhaps it's just the Series I that is starting to get classic status.  Series II petrols seem to be pretty worthless.

The issue here would be that the next owner would be unable to unlaminate it so it would be spoiled.

Have you ever tried putting a picture hook into a ceramic tile?  That sir is your issue.  A much better idea would be to use "no more nails" on the back of the picasso.

In the end the pre-war Rover with the wrong engine is reversible if you want to return it to original condition or you could use it as is. Keeping it on the road is bound to be a massive love/hate relationship anyway so if you want one less headacke then a Pinto isn't a bad shout and it sounds like the old engine was properly burst anyway.

Personally I'd be keen on the drivetrain from a P4 to be a bit more in keeping but each to their own.

I probably should go back through the posts, but why would someone want to laminate an old Citroen MPV and attach it to their toilet wall?
