That 505 estate is mega win. I have no need for anymore cars at the moment but am still actually considering bashing in a bid. Does the whole driving to a pre booked MOT thing still hold water as the cost of transport would probably be a bit steep.

That 505 estate is Cornwall, right there.

Probably, but you'd need some brave pills to drive it from Truro to Brierley Hill.  Last MOT was in 2011.  Verdict: do it!

I bet this is on BorniteIdentities watch list

Is the engine in these a 1.8 Pinto? For some I thought these had a CVH but that looks like a Pinto.

Some had the Pinto in 1.8 flavour; at one time I believe they were sought after in motorsport where you couldn't rebore a 2.0 and keep it under the 2-litre capacity limit, but you could rebore the 1.8 and use stock 2.0 pistons.

I wonder what the thinking was it's not like the fuel consumption or performance was likely to be much difference from a 2.0?

Worth the £4k asked just as an ornament IMHO

Needs work, engine etc and windscreens. (Flat glass, so do-able)

But it doesn't need paint. Just several coats of clear lacquer to keep it that way.

Room under that bonnet for any V8, KV6, Prima Diesel,  whatever.

hmmmm, brown.....

don't like the wheels much (what are they, MG Midget rostyles?) but the original ones are included apparently. which if it was mine i'd be putting them back on the car.

another one which i could lick all day long.

its even more realistically priced compared to some which have been listed recently.

I know that Volvo had a nice radio, but that is one hell of an aerial

Not eBay, but a couple of things which I think are half-decent that I've seen at local garages:

1995 Rover 214 SEi by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

This one has only 25k on the clock. Nice interior, cheap tax - I bet it'd make a great daily.

1989 BMW 520i auto by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Don't know what they want for this, but it's only done 64k and apparently has full main dealer service history. I don't really 'do' BMWs, but I find this appealing (even if it wouldn't be desperately quick).

Given enough cash and storage space I'd be stashing both of these away. But I have neither - let me know if details are required.....

When I worked at Garrett, our Departmental Pool Car was one of these 520 autos.

3 Lads went out to Italy to our sister plant with Experimental Turbo's in the boot. and  reckon they may have seen 140 MPH on bald front tyres over the alps. They had to replace them on the way.

I used to drive from SKem to Melton Mowbray to deal with an automation supplier and once Consumed £80 of fuel in the Return trip when petrol was about 65p a litre.

i cannot belive that this has not been listed here yet.

is it citron (as in lemon) yellow, or lime flower, the colour of this, and didn't the 1800 come with a different grill, i thought only the 1300's shipped with a gril like this one?

dunno about those wheels either.....

SRSLY I could sit and look at that all day long

Those wheels are just RONG.  A Marina needs to be on 13s.  Dolly Sprint alloys, ideally.  That grille is the 1.3, yes, also seen on the van, which also came with the 1098.  The 1.8 looked like this...

No way man, those wheels look gr9. Not too sticky-out which is important

Posted

Everyone to their own, but there's nowhere near enough sidewall on those for me.  What are they, 15s?  Way too big.  I have no real issue with the Minilite-lites, they'd be fine at 13".

Oh and I think it's too dark to be Citron, so it's probably Limeflower.

That Marina is lovely, I really hate those wheels though!

Factory steels with shiny caps for me please, or a set of Marina TC wheels.

^don't forget the rim embellishers, it would have to have the rim embellishers too along with the shiny hub caps.
