eBay tat volume 3.

Diesel Fellatio.  It's a bit rough and the seller doesn't appear to have much of a command of English, but for a hundred quid start with test until December you can't go too far wrong.

I'm loving that hand written Proton badge!. In all seriousness why would you even bother to waste £30 advertising this on Autotrader?, it hasn't even got a MOT. Just fragg the fecker.

I think we've found where all the white dog turds went, they're making up the front wing of that Proton.

^ poor weee rover, its the exact same colour as the one i had. at that was, apart from the OMGHGF it was a fab little car.

at £290 though there would be enough in the budget to do the head gasket anyway. does Mr B accept outside work?

Their lot must be in a tesco car park or something given the effort they've went to, to photoshop it out of every picture.

Seriously? These FWD V6 models are worth this much all of a sudden?  I got out too soon!

That Buick is wonderful - why are Yank cars so expensive though?

My point exactly!  I can understand somewhat if we were dealing with pre-85 classics, with RWD, luxury interiors and V8 powah, but come on, that Buick has only one of the three, plus a name that dates back to the 50s.  FWD models should be worth no more than Audis or Accords of the same age/size.  It's funny how they are worth fortunes and even fivetunes when I want to buy, yet come sale time, the market drops through the floor never to be seen again.  Even on the same day...

Does anyone have a clue what the seller of that dayvan is blathering on about in relation to "use of the graphics via PAL scheme" - the ad's written as if everyone already knows what that is.

Also not clear to me - was this an actual NYPD vehicle or has he (or someone else) done it up like that.

I known, I know - I should ask him really - but I don't want to waste his time as I have no intention of buying it.

That applies to everything I ever buy or sell, but Yank cars seem to be really odd - I wonder if anyone gets the crazy asking prices - I mean nice as that Buick is, it's a niche market surely?  Even for the 50s, 60s and 70s stuff I am a bit shocked at the asking prices for rattly old sheds full of rust.  Maybe I'm just getting old.

I suspect someone in the marketing/promotions/PR team at NYPD has licenced their vehicle graphics for approved charitable uses or some such.  Although his typing is shit, I would actually trust Mike to know about that, he just might not be the world's best at explaining it.  He's a big fan of US emergency vehicles and has owned several mocked-up versions in his time.

Anyone want a Golf 1.4GTI automatic that isn't a Golf 1.4GTI automatic?

I feel sorry for their Dad - we ought to offer him an honorary membership on here and tell his stupid family to stop bullying him to get a new car.

Agree with this.

I think the trouble with yanks is that they aren't common enough here for people to have much choice. This means when the odd one does come up for sale the seller thinks it's an opportunity to jack up the price relying on someone that wants specifically a yank to pay up. There's also the 'yank scene' that tends to bump up prices too.

I'd even include a lot of pre 85 classics in this too, there's loads of them with excessive price tags that never seem to sell, they just keep getting re-advertised over and over. This doesn't mean the cars no good but they just aren't worth what the seller is asking. Some of them, you could get a similar or better car from the US, import it and get it on the road here for the same price or less. Of course, again, the seller is relying on the fact that most people can't or won't do this.

Other marques are the same, are old Cortina's, Escort's and Capri's worth what people generally are asking for them? No not really. And I'm a huge Ford nut saying that!

My Mercury isn't realistically worth half what I've spent on it and I'd never try to ask what some of the ebay sellers ask if I ever wanted to sell it (not likely in a million years!) and mines mechanically in as new condition with a sound original body and still has it's factory installed engine (freshly rebuilt).

Having said all that I don't think ebay is a very reliable way to value cars.
