I may be talking bollocks (often am) but had a vague feeling there was a way to down plate these to under 7.5 GVW so you can drive with grandfather rights if you have a pre-97 car licence - private use and no trailers obvs

What sort of mpg would one get from a big old '80s tractor unit, just using it to run about in with no trailer? Can't be more than about 15 surely?

8-10 (max) I think someone said.

 

I was in line to buy an ERF EC11 unit, but it got sold from under me a couple of years back. If nothing else parking it out front and going to work in it would just be immense.
