But there is this:

didn't this stable belong to someone on here, and it turned in to a complete nightmare?

something bout the speedo and gearbox not speaking to each other and then the whole lot not working rings a bell?

or did I dream that? (I probably dreamt it)

We need to have a good old chin wag about this in another thread ;-)

Is this the one that's owned by the elderly gent? I'm sure it is.

I've just spotted no headrests. How much of a masochist would you be to originally buy this in place of a slightly smaller, but better equipped Orion?

Sable, no T :)

Yes and no.  I had one that met the description you offer, and sold it for a nominal sum to Bobthebeard, who fixed it.  This one listed now is another one.  I'm tempted, for a number of reasons.  It has analogue dials, which "should" eliminate the issues I had with digital; it has 12 months ticket, always a good thing; there's no reserve; it's the 3.8 engine rather than the 3.0 in my previous Sable; I've met the seller and know him to be a keen owner of American autos.  I can even remember how to get to his house!

If any Shiter is thinking about an entry-level Yank, this would be the place to start.  Unless I decide to bid, obviously...

I'm in love with this. Seen it on the M40 a few times and it does look good, then lo and behold it's being sold on facebook!

An early 2CV would fly better. Not shite, shit: the Flying Flea, such a fundamentally dangerous design they were permanently grounded.

A Ford Freda is a Mazda Bongo. That one doesn't have an elevating roof so is a "Bongalow".  Gettit?

Posted

Hydraulic handbrake, stripped interior, noisy diff...

I wonder what that was previously used for.

Not with somebody else's bargepole, mate.

Really really spirited trips to Waitrose?

I remember when the TT came out all the press shots had those seats with that stitching and it look de-sex. Fast forward 15 years and that's the first physical car I've seen with them fitted it must have been a mega expensive option.

Although it does bug me the steering wheel and seats are a completely different shade of brown

Weren't those TT seats called Baseball Glove/ Mitt or something to do with the stitching, possibly only understood by our Colonial cousins.
