I was eyeing this up earlier. A Renault 9 is pretty much top of the list of cars I want to try. It was 9s I was looking for when I saw that Espazz that I posted earlier today.

A friend of mine has a much, much nicer early 9 with MoT for £250 ono... it is an auto sadly (but can some with everything to convert to manual if you want). Downside is it's in Sussex, but I could put you in touch if you're serious...

I've been looking at the later model 197's but I wonder if this shape in 182 form would be better? It's got to be a hell of a lot lighter.

The 182s seem a lot more expensive for 10bhp and a silly backbox..

Buy a 172 sub 1k, do suspension tyres and a remap and you'll be up on a 182

And you'll have room for a spare wheel.

It was the later ones I've been looking at like this. They went to town on these they've even got a wider track.

Parked the 172 beside some of these and a colleague has a 1.1 version of that shape.

They are the size of a fat arse Megane!

They're horrible inside too but they're the culmination of a lot of the good stuff Renaultsport seemed to be doing around that time. Even though they've not got a huge of extra power on paper they're quicker than the 182. The new Clio Renault sports has a turbo charged engine and dsg auto gear box and we all know how good Renault are at turbos and autos!

I don't think the early 197's and early megane sports got that good of a review, it was only when they started selling the cup versions of both that they was cracking again. Saying that there probably still a brill drive. I have seen some good 182's selling for 3K on clio sport and some 197's can be bought for the same.

Be like Panhard.

That one was for sale recently as a spares car to go with a convertible. I don't think it made more than 700 for the pair and the convertible was pretty clean

Surprisingly enough, that particular Korando used to belong to Fatha_LabRat about 6 years ago.

He went all over the bloody country in it, slowly and with a vague nauseous sensation. (not from looking at it either!)

It was bloody reliable, apart from the fact that rear brake shoes are unobtainium unless imported in by the dealer. Still think putting a merc grill on it would be like putting lipstick on a pig!

'is the 310 Power steering model, the model that many say was the best ever made!'

Trip advisor:

Location:  Little Chef roundabout, A41/M53, Eastham.

Reason for visiting: Attempting to turn left onto M53 (South)

Duration of stay: Felt like weeks

Accommodation type: Mercedes 310 tyre fitters van

'I know a motorway roundabout perhaps isn't the best or most popular place for an overnight stay, but like a complete tit I stupidly attempted to negotiate said traffic junction about at 2.00pm on a quiet day. Having set sail from Bromborough (distance 5 miles) several hours prior, I felt my confidence positively brimming after successfully overtaking an asthmatic, three legged tortoise carrying a ton of sand on it's back. Sadly, this new found confidence merely served to encourage me to pull out on a 38 tonne Scania that was probably 15 miles away before I started the manoeuvre. Attempting to change gear required thee hands, four arms, 2.6 metric tonnes of force and a mixture of swearing, prayers and blind panic. Would I stay in a Mercedes 310D van again? Like fuck I would. 0/10'
