Well I don't drink so at least it shouldn't take much to end it all when I realise what I might let myself in for.

Scotland in no drinks shocker. Another mythos down the drain...

I seem to recall that it was your fault that i bought the Civic too! I really hope it's not too rotten, the seller says there's 3 bits that need patching underneath but they are nothing major, annoyingly it's also the wrong side of the QE2 bridge so it means I'll have to pay a toll and it's in the LEZ zone.

If only I could make such good decisions in the cars I buy for myself.

To complement your newly purchased brown Monty, you'll be needing an equally dusty Maestro.

Nice early one and doesn't look catastrophically rusty.  New set of tyres and the MOT's a dead cert.  Useless fact, this is the absolute spit of one my parents had in about 1992.  It was the same age and colour and had the same black stripes down the side.  It was also considerably rustier even then, had new rear arches welded in at around 8 years old.

I decided against it in the end, I texted the chap this morning, It turns out the roof is rotten and bubbling around the sunroof and the sunroof has dropped, add that to the welding on the floor, the rust to the tailgate, getting it running better, mot, collecting it etc it was going to work out too much work and too expensive for me. :(

I had the same call on a Monza GSE I went to see before Christmas. I really, really wanted it but there was grot, some of the bushes looked dry and it was running a bit snotty because it'd been sat for 10+years.

It can take a lot of effort and money to get them back on the road. I'd say the rot on the tailgate in the pictures indicates there may be some hidden issues.

I've never taken something on I knew had a bit of rot and there's been less than I thought just by the nature of how cars rust from the inside out.

To be fair it looks pretty ace, if he got that for £500 he did well

I didn't see this on yesterday evening - I'd only posted on Car and Classic it at 5pm or so!  AS discount is available ;-)

Anyone want to save my old Corolla?

when the Mot expired i purchased a Blackbird engine for it to do a front mounted, rear wheel drive conversion.

Which in no way would have ended up on ebay right after as a "90% complete, just needs tidying" listing

the mark one cav is ace.

me dad had on, a 2000 GL in pea green, vinyl roof and black velour trim.

it never smelt quiet the same after my kid sister puked up a strawberry ice cream all over the back seat one sunday afternoon.

That fiesta is awesome, looks like he's invested at least half an hour in the turbo conversion

If my 900 ever changes colour, it'll be going in that direction, or to Scarab green, which is so dark it can look almost black.  Like this:

It's solid red at the moment, and although it doesn't oxidise badly, it's 25 years old and at *some* point the cutting polish is going to break through into primer.
