I love how the Cressida owner doesn't know what the word for 'gas struts' is.

They called them 'bonnet shock absorbers':-D

Holy crap, how ugly is this, and with a giffermatic 1.5 it must be slow as hell.

Would it be wrong to buy that, fit the running gear from some mega-power WRX,but keep it looking exactly the same?

Modern Proton at 450 with no reserve. Colour beige, interior beige, the colour of your Mrs's face when you present it as her new car, beige.

Re-listed due to time waster. To be perfectly clear - I do not accept weekly instalments!

At first glance (without my glasses and after a few beers), I thought that beige Proton was a Rover 75.

It's the only sensible course of action.

It's no dafter than buying one in the first place

Lancia Kappa with a V6 in it.

It's had a bump, has dodgy brakes & no MOT, but look at the blue interior

This looks pretty good for £999 despite being on nearly 300k.

From memory though aren't these something ridiculous like 70bhp, so a tad sluggish ... I still would though.

I'm off to look at this right now. It's half an hour away from me.

If it was nearer me I'd be off for a look  as well, it seems pretty good value.

Let us know how it is in the metal. Despite the mileage it looks much better than some w123's I've seen with half the mileage.

Will do I had a w123 230e a couple of years back, loved it. Always hankered after a diesel estate. At this price it's got to be ropey though.
