“Does want work and of course nowhere near the type of vehicle we would normally offerâ€Â

Oof! Standards are slipping. But £1.00 starting bid and no reserve it's got to be worth a punt.

That E28 520 is well phitt! 8)

Not massively fast but they keep up well enough and cruise at three figure speeds, I really liked the one I had.

Could stand to lose the ride-destroying wheels though.

Quite taken by this old E21 too. Is it just me or are most of the surviving 316s autos? Every time I see one for sale it's got the self-shifter.

I had an e28 520i manual and it was pretty slow but very smooth when up to speed. I bet the auto's a right plodder. Is that what you had?

I bet that 316 isn't much fun with the autobox. I had an e21 320 (straight 6) with an autobox and it was hatefull and would have been improved 100% by a manual box.

Yeah, mine was an auto.

OK so it wasn't as quick as the 3 litre E34 I had later on but with a power to weight ratio right on 100bhp/ton it was decent enough and in all the time I had it I can't ever remember stamping my foot on the floor in a desperate attempt to make the thing move, like I regularly did on a couple of the Volvos I had.

I think the smoothness of the engine made it seem slower than it was.

Still got it sideways a few times though.....sorry, wrong thread!
