The gremlins will be the battery , when the range rover gets low it'll start but comes up with HDC inoperative and suspension errors , charge it up and they go away

I bloody hate it when I'm somewhere new and there's a weird junction with weird rules. 99% of the time you can use the left lane to go straight on at roundabouts and traffic lights, and the 1% only ever have an arrow painted on the ground where you can't see it under the traffic.

That's one thing that really pisses me off , it's left lane for left and straight on , right lane for right , why do they have to fuck about with it

Because sometimes traffic flow makes it more sensible to do otherwise. If 40% of traffic goes left and 40% of traffic goes straight on, it makes sense to split the two lanes 40/60 rather than 80/20.

It should be signed somewhere visible then. Arrows on the road are pointless in traffic & non-standard lane usage is pointless when there is no traffic. I'm sure* whoever designs the rules for such things either doesn't drive or hates cars.

I had similar issues with mine and a new battery stopped them. I went for a normal battery, not AGM. Six months on and all is fine electrically.

I bought mine through my dealer who price matched the GSF one.

So, a new battery might solve the issues then?

It might. Most modules will leave a tell tale "low voltage" or terminal 15 error, that, and a battery not sitting above 13v will point to the battery or alternator. A quick check to see which one it is will be worthwhile. No point in buying a new battery if the alternator is goosed.

Or it might be nothing to do with the battery.

If only he had a scanner to check it with.

Reckon the battery is wanked right enough, had to jump start it again after sitting for two days.

anyone know what size it takes so I don’t need to haul the wheel out and strip it down just to find out? ECP list loads.

Ta. Halfords website agrees. ECP shows it as an option but shows lots more too.

I assume it’ll not be AGM on a 2001?

Battery choices are in

£80 for a Drivetec from GSF

£85 for Lion from ECP

£90 for Halfords own brand

£105 for Yuasa from Halfords (5 year guarantee)

£120 for Bosch S4 from ECP (4 year guarantee)

I'd probably just get the Numax 019 on Tayna for £79.95. good AH, good CCA, decent price.

They do have a Powerline for under £60, but it's lower specced. Would likely do the job fine though.

GSF’s cheapie is pretty similar and I can fit it tomorrow. Good shout though, never seen that site before.

They're decent. Fast deliver, well packed. I used them to get a battery for the Discovery, ended up buying one with that'd start 2 dump trucks at once for about £40 less than Halfords cheapest.

I put that same gsf battery in my brother and laws 525d a week or so a go. It’s tucking huuuge.

The spare wheel and air pump stuff needs to be removed before the battery can be got at.

I had the added "pleasure" of an lpg tank to remove before I could get to change my battery. Hence the four long supports and the extra piping etc.

At least my air pump had been relocated to the OSR of the boot area.

Given ECP are unlikely to be around for much longer, a 4 year guarantee isn't worth paying a premium for.

Just cheaped out and fitted the GSF one.

Not as cheaped out as the last guy - it had a far smaller 011 fitted.

Starts a lot faster now and hopefully will behave itself.

Parking sensor wiring at the module looks fine so I guess I’m going to need to check the condition of the sensors.

NS headlight is troublesome - the sidelight wasn’t working the other day but now is and the dipped beam isn’t working instead....

My local(ish) battery supplier too, so I get an even better deal without having to pay postage :-)

Bit of WD40 and removing / reseating the headlight bulb on the NS seems to have sorted that out.

Anyone know what’s most likely to be up with the parking sensors?

All 4 rear sensors are open circuit.

All 4 front sensors click away happily.

PDC unit is dry and the wiring looks OK although I haven’t tested for continuity to the sensors yet.

It’s the handles themselves that break I believe.

.... headlight is out again today YAY. It’s a Lucas bulb so maybe it’s just the prince of darkness getting revenge for what happened to Rover

Prince of darkness right enough I think - new bulb has restored the light for now. Guess it has a loose connection internally.
