I nearly agree with you, but I started to like a mate's 2001 330d Touring once it had a couple of hundred thousand miles under its belt and had picked up a few dents & some cosmetic rust.

 

I never liked the shape of the steering wheel rim or the door mirrors though.

I find the E46 interior a vacuum for any cheer. I tried to get along with that 320d recently but just sitting in it filled with me with melancholy.
