Do tell, what temp was "bloody cold"?

 

 

About 5C with high humidity, with the wind that cut right through everything.

 

For here, that's bloody cold. I've become used to 30C being "normal"

I could get used to 30 degrees! Bet the moistness ruins it though, not a fan of the moist, me. Also spiders, especially ones wot bite.

 

Top motoring, really enjoying this thread. Turns out i may have been a closeted 'murican shite licker, always liked the mid sixties cadillacs, before the OMGEMISSIONS power down of engines in the early seventiez (71?), i mean an 8.2 V8 with 180bhp?! Pfffft. Nonsense.

 

Anyway, could have one of these too if space/funds etc the usual.

Air ride in the morning

 

 

60psi in the rear suspension. Wanted to see if it would take air, and it did; it raised things to a little to be able to see underneath more.

That's a lot of spiders.

You can just see where the chassis has been notched. It needs to be rubbed back and protected.

Is that a huge great dent in the exhaust as well? Probably won't be helping your engine's breathing if so...

The dent has rusted out into a free-flowing hole.

 

The back end of the exhaust is thin and in need of replacement. I'm just going to sleeve a length of pipe on there for the time being.

So the engine and box weighs more than an entire invacar. Sorry to mention them on every thread, but it's a nice stat.

The Poncho engine/box combo weighs 0.4 Renault 16s, yet you could throw them in the back of one and take them to a machining shop.

Alternatively it weighs 0.6 Renault R4F4s, yet you could throw two of them in the back of one and take them to a machining shop.

 

I'm weird. I know.

It's approximately one millionth the weight of the Humber bridge*.

 

 

 

 

 

*Yes, I actually went look up the weight of the bridge and did the calculation. It's about 1015000 times as light.

Not as heavy as the expectations of a video with it running sans exhaust..

That's with the exhaust exiting at the manifold.

 

It's a very subdued note- just adds a bit of bass with no silencer.

Sadly the intake and exhaust manifold are a locked item, the exhaust has a hotspot to warm the strike face of the intake.

 

I don't know if it'll make flames, never checked to see. Once it's back together and running I'll check.

Of course it will make flames it probably puts more fuel into the exhaust than it uses to move. I had a friend (RIP) with a Pontiac collection over here and they all made your eyes water on tickover. Well the pre emmissions ones anyway.

It's surprising how little the thing smells when it's running. Certainly less than the Renault and that's all fuel injection and fancy stuff.

 

Either way, gotta wait to see.

 

On a positive note, a package arrived today.
