Was that some sort of drag race for Invacars?  I bet that was a sight to behold!

Expand

Tragic, really.

So much death and destruction. All those racers, killed immediately after the lights went out on the grid.

if you think thats steampunk, just wait until ya see the controls of the Mk1 specifically :)

the Mk2 moved to the Invacar type 1 arm tiller control

but AC did continue to produce Aircraft control into the Acedes era for special cases that called for it

for example seen here on NPJ340D

as I said at the time I first posted about NPJ, I cant help but look at that style of steering setup and think "dagadagaga" to the sound of a Merlin V12 :)

It would get anyWERE    (  see what i did there !  ) near  a Messerschmitt,  they're a  78mph  machine  with 4 wheels and  4 brakes

That's only the Tigers, and they're rare as rocking horse shit (and fetch stupid money).  The KR200 is much more common and also has insufficient wheels, although it is still somewhat quicker than a Villiers-engined Invacar.

Can't you replace the stock set up in the REVmobile with the arrangement from a Piper Cherokee using just a Philips screwdriver or similar?

That does remind me, about a year after i left school, a few old school friends unexpectedly  turned up  to my house . One , the former deputy  headboy , who  at school had a 55 mph Suzuki  AP50 moped, now   had a  white  Robin  Reliant , the cute one , with round headlights. Inside , he'd fitted loads of  52mm Smiths gauges . Fucking impressive eh? Like a racing car !(  I was still on a push bike  )None of them were connected or worked    though ! :-D

There was a kr200 at a stables i used to go to . It was offered to me for free ... but i bought the blokes land rover series 3 instead  ,  for 100 quid ..and  next time i went there the messerschmitt had gone for scrap!  I might have made a mistake eh  , but i got 250 for the fairy overdrive off it , and another 75 quid  for the roof rack ...

My brother, sister and I had a Messerschmitt to play with when we were kids, unfortunately we left it in the hedge to rot away. A neighbour did salvage the canopy and engine and years later I got the handlebars and speedometer off it, which I swapped for a triang pedal car. The remaining, remains were buried in the concrete slab under my sister's hay shed.

This is still about the things with a wheel missing rather than the ones with wings is it?

I just got a bit lost after the Merlin reference earlier and thought one or more DB601s might be involved, although the Spanish ones did have Merlins as you can see in the 'Battle of Britain' film, as did the 'He111s'.

It’s the single headlight that does it. With twin it just looks like a regular 3wheeler.
Attaching a “dagagagagagaga” sound to honking the horn and seeing that would probably make at least one person duck for cover 😄

All this talk of AC All Weather Invalid Tricycle, did remind me I have this photo which had this description :)

"Mrs.Nellie Monic Ready For A Touring Holiday On The Continent Prepares To Board The Cross-Channel Air Ferry At Lympne Airport,Kent In A Special Designed Invalid Tricycle Car.3Rd June 1954"

I know others crossed the channel by boat or the such like, somewhere theres a great photo of Denny Denly's Argson way up in the air being loaded onto a boat by way of crane and wires/ropes :)

As likely as British Invacar. We were never part of USSR nor were relations that tight to ever get these (or any other USSR-specific oddities).

I saw that, it didn't half go up. Looking at the fireball I wondered if it had been a CNG or LNG wagon, diesel doesn't normally go up in a huge fireball.
