Hullo.

Just signed up. Based in Old Dublin town and its safe to say I've had quite a few bits of autoshite over the years.

Current stable is a fiat 124 spider, Porsche 912, a hand painted (rollered) T25 camper and a brace of Merc W124 estates. I'm slightly addicted to W124s as they are simply brilliant & boring at the same time.

I also have two bikes, both Triumphs - one a T140 tracker home build and a 955 Tiger which is the newest vehicle I own at fourteen years old.

So, that's me.

Carry on.

Hello,

I'd forgotten to do this. I'm Toby and I dont even have a car. I did but not at the moment.

Started out with volvo 300s which are still the best car ever 4 realz. I'll find a picture of it sooner or later. Had 2 of those, 1.4 and 1.7, The 1.7 was a total dog. Still feel a bit silly for cubing the 1.4 although it never really recovered from a cylinder head swap to cure leaky valve stems... In retrospect, the 6 monthly oil top up would have taken less time in even 100 years than all the mess that made; live and learn.

After that bought an early model petrol octavia with a checkered past which eventually was bridged rather than fixing all its problems, the more things i fixed the more unrelated expensive things broke to fill the gap. not even the radio worked by the end. Won't be buying VAG again.

Had a Scirocco which I understand got a good home from here. A better home that me not replacing its engine and interior and suspension and storing homebrew equipment in the boot anyway.

In the market for a motorbike at the moment, sold my I-can't-believe-these-are-brakes-and-it-came-out-the-factory-like-this CB125 one poverty stricken Christmas and shouldn't have. Also another Volvo 300 or a saloon 240 petrol perhaps.

and for the day job I write software. I'll try and do a spotter things too soon as there are some fairy wretched heaps around my part of Ipswich.

Wow.

You are personally liable to explain the mess in my undercrackers to Mrs Foxhake.

305 made me much wibbly.

Allegedly, the Metro shared an engine with some form of Austin sports car, possibly an MGA. An A-40 powerplant.

Hello, just in case no one mentioned it, there are some Metropolitans over here, not a big seller but biggish money now. On sharing engines, its not beyond the realms of possibility to fit a tuned 1800 MGB engine but steering and stopping the thing might be.

Just realised this bit was here!

Joined up ages ago but just basically lurked, got reminded about it by a friend who is on the facebook group (which is not accepting members :( ) when he posted a picture of my Reliant SS1 which was bought for a bit of fun and has proved to be that.

Main and newest car is a Volvo 940 LPT estate which is great, the rest of the 'fleet' is not the best as I do favour quantity over quality, two Morris Minors the SS1 and a Series 2a Land Rover. All are cosmetically challenged and will most likely deffinatly stay that way.

Thanks cros,

I guess if it takes an MGA motor maybe an MGB would fit, too. Not that it needed more power. It needed a workable clutch more than power when I had it...and the heater was always looking out for better weather.

I had never heard of any making it back to the British Isles, but Metropolitans are getting to be sought after now. I paid $100 for mine in 1976, when they were not. It was the equivalent of having a 1992 Yugo in, say, 2015, without the snob appeal or the drifting capability.

Evening fellow shitters, long time lurker saying hi. Currently smoking around in a '98 A4 of beautifully dreary 1.6 flavour which is known as the Burgundy Bastard.Although its the perfect tonic to my garage queen (i know, not very AS)

Im surprised there isnt more love for these old B5 Audi A4's,im on my 2nd now and got to say they are hardy, cheap as chips and easy to work on. Ive put 23k on it in 18 months and apart from the maf going tits up and some epic lacquer peel there isn't much to report.

Welcome along guys. Feel free to chip in with pics and general nonsense.

Hi all. I've been posting on the Facebook site for a couple of years.

Can't say if my Astra Coupe is shite, but its Bertone build means something to me. It's currently having a noisy alternator and leaking water pump fixed, so hopefully it'll keep running sweetly for a few years. Over the 9 years it's been in the family, its biggest trouble has been a blown spark plug and an aversion to the Bosch Super 4s I put into it. The wife doesn't get older cars and the likelihood is, if I take her up on the offer of a new car in three years, it'll be relatively new, modern toss. Therefore I'm in two minds to just keep the Astra and be thankful I've got an older car already, even though my heart wants another 6 or my first V8/12.

My previous cars were a red E36 320i that got tipped on its side and a black P2 306 XSI that got sold to WBAC after requiring radiator work twice in 7 months. That was a beautiful car to drive, but far too fragile.

OK, well I have been looking on here for a while now and decided to join after becoming bored with the Willy waving on Piston(bloated)heads and have found the cars on here to be more my taste and budget.

Currently driving an MGF and a Citroen Saxo Open Scandal with the full webasto sunroof and funky coloured seats. Previous cars include numerous Rovers from 800 coupes to 100 cabriolet, 2cv's,Scimitar Ss1's and older Triumph & MG models. Worst have been an X19, Yugo & a Marina, with Jaguar XJ6 & Allegro's as favourite. Although one Scimitar SS1 lasted 7yrs with me and I am on my 5th MGF. Most over-rated was an Mx5 while my old GTM kitcar was the biggest surprise and lasted 3yrs as a daily driver.

Hi guys, thinking of selling my old Beemer brought me here!

Just browsing around is an education!

Don't know If I'm allowed to offer mine for sale on here yet, if so, I'll give it a wash and brush-up ready for a photo-shoot and see if anyone wants to adopt! ;-)

Hello all, I was looking for the classic rover forum and this site popped up so I had a look and here we are! Current cars aren't really shite, a Berlingo for me and a Swift for her.

But,  also have a bobtailed Range Rover (cut down 2 door chassis with a Vogue 4 door body I made in the front garden) that will most likely end up being scrapped sometime soon :-( , a 1956 Cadillac in need of some repair but deffo a keeper, a V8 trike (p6 engine, hence looking for the classic rover forum) and a few bikes - currently only the 1100 Goldwing painted with Shutz is mobile and it got the ratbike award at a rally last weekend ... again ...

Thinking about with getting something older, maybe an Allegro estate, had one years ago and loved it.

Got a few pix to post when I work out how to, some of my old stuff and some suprising stuff near where we live - 2CV estate (not a corrugated van conversion), 4wd Alfa saloon (unless its just a 4wd badge stuck on it) etc

Howdy. Is your 2CV estate a Tony England job? If so, pretty sure I've seen you at shows.

Hi,

I am CitronoPipo from south-east France. My username is a reference to a sketch about a fictuous car brand. I am into cars since I was a kid. More than engines and performances I am interested in car design, automobile marketing and history but I really just like everything about cars. Having grown up in France, I am into the usual french shite but still have huge interest in other car brands.

I don't have a car at the moment, having wrecked my 2003 Honda Civic 2 days before last xmas but this will in no way won't stop me talking about cars and related shite.

Welcome one and all.

Where in the South East are you from CitronoPipo?

Our own Lord Sterling was working down that way quite recently. We also have Davenumbers in the South West and I spent last year traveling through your beautiful country.

hi all

from west london

was searching on google for a old photo of a garage i worked at many years ago and stumbled upon this great website so much on here reading about other peoples fetishes in cars like mine for renaults i always thought of some people have strange taste in cars not realising that mine is just as bad.

but thats what makes this site great so many different people with different cars, tastes and stories to tell how they come to liking there motors

and the excitment of keeping them going etc.

some excellent threads on here and gives some great reads like the austin 18/22 (princess) also the austin somerset turned hot rod

so thanx for many hours of great reads and will continue to do so.

i have 3 renaults at present renault scenic 2000  for family only as mrs and kids wont ride in my other 2 shame on them blame the parents(mother in this case)

renault 7 1978 which i use for work and run around when on my own which is left as it is, i like to drive it not going to restore like to keep original.

renault 12 1978 which has been of the road for a few years and being stripped for a complete rebuild fingers crossed.

anyway enough of me rambling as i said great site and maybe chat to a few of you in time
