Mazda 626 NOT For Sale G869 PGW

Bucketeer gets first refusal. Loads of info and pics on the site about this one. I've spent ages working on the thing and I am now sick of the sight of it.

Since I've owned it:

  • Cured all oil leaks at sump and rocker cover (changed oil, filter and sump plug and washer too). I've coated the sump with enamel to protect it.
  • Sorted all gremlins with the carb, no longer races at start up and does everything it should. Runs really well.
  • Adjusted the ignition timing.
  • Replaced exhaust manifold gaskets.
To get the sump off and the baffle plate was a total PITA, I had to spend hours running a blade between the casings to clear the old RTV to get the sump off. I had to remove the subframe, exhaust, rad, and crank pulley to be able to remove the sump and strainer and to gain access to inspect crank seal and oil pump.

The last straw for me was speaking to an absolute rude spunk bubble at Hagerty Insurance. It's a good car, and I've done the hard graft. I just now want rid as I associate it with ball ache. It's just not meant for me, I've grown to hate it, I prefer my Clio.

The bad bits are the door (still works though) and a small exhaust blow at some welds. All it will need is the part replacing (between £30-£60) or gun gum, beer can and jubilee clips.

Ah, that's a shame, but well done for making further improvements. Sounds like it's now a much better bet.

Thank you Mr. dollywobbler. Had the timing belt cover off too. Would be an easy belt change. However, belt, water pump and pulleys/tensioner were changed in the not too distant past and all looks good.

Sorry to hear of your woes, but you've done loads to it so A++ for your efforts!  Not making money on it either, 'tis the Autoshite way.

I'll take several randoms if you roffle, otherwise GLWTS.

Cheers Rob. It's not the car, my grumpiness is verging on psychosis at the mo, I've just run out of patience. Might not make any money but have learned a shit load about carb tuning, which I think is a help with understanding the whole injection/ diagnostics ting.

Pssst!

Even if available elsewhere, a couple of low-shot sexy pics of your chariot - maybe looking somewhat moody in the summer twilight with headlights on  - will bring all the Mazda-lickers running, with fistfuls of hard cash.

Guaranteed*.

Otherwise... this looks like a sure-fire roffle winnah to me.

I will get some pics on here ASAP cheers. I will post in Roffle section too. Thanks Datsuncog.

I bet that door could be vastly improved with an hour knocking it out.

I did try, but ended up smashing the window in the process...no doubt needs someone more competent that me.  But the fact the crease runs right from the top of the door skin doesn't help.

I don't get the comment about the person from Hagerty insurance. Did they refuse to insure it or something? Spill the beans, man!

Wouldn't protect my no claims. Guy was rude and waffling, wouldn't answer direct questions. Straw that broke the camels back on top of all the work I've done and the other non car related stuff that needs my attention.

£300.00 and it's worth every penny. I just want the pig gone, can't stand the fookin sight of it.

I'm 37 with tons of no claims. Regular insurer is £380.00 For me with protected no claims

Hagerty is £180.00 But do not protect no claims and you have to go through rigmarole of agreed value.

Sounds like a classic car policy, you don't earn/use NCD on a classic policy. So I'm not sure what the grumble is about???

Park/lodge NCD with classic insurer or use it on something else.

That's brilliant   bloke/blokess starts a thread and thinks is going into psychosis caused partly by an old car  then gets cured in less than a day AND keeps the car.  Another Autoshite first?

I did not see that twist coming, the OP properly blindsided me, and I very much liked it :)

Moar of the same please people, the bar has been raised ;)

I'd grab a roffle ticket.

At least I would, if it were for sale.

But it's not, so I won't.

The end.
