I reckon about 80 miles motorway and the rest round town on that tank.

Posted

That does seem pretty bad. I would expect a small auto to get nearer 40. Maybe see what the next tank does to rule out petrol station pumps.

So 80 miles on the motorway and 190 miles town work, presumably fairly short trips? Town driving is the killer of emm pee gees.

Sorry, I reckon this is going to be about par for these Mazda engines, particularly as an auto.

Great looking car though!

I reckon that is about right .Missus Moog Getz 2003 1.6 Auto does about 25 mpg round houses and 34 on a run.

The auto robs a huge amount of mpgs especially the older style ones.

Thanks for the thoughts.  I guess these older autos are slower to change up? Seems like i'd be better off buzzing about town in my Mondeo then, that tends to get highish 30's whatever.  Mazda is a lot nippier though, easier to park etc...

I still think these are bloody rare, anyone else seen one lately?

The manual Getz is about 20% better on fuel than the auto. It is a combination of older style manuals and less powerful engines that have to work harder.

This is the curse of the slippy auto. They’re fine once locked up doing 60 in overdrive, but you will always find it in 2nd when you want 3rd, and it will always be in 3rd when you want 4th.

Best I ever managed out of my Almera was 36. The manual would easily give 43.

Posted

Ugh, how? My Almera was appalling, 35 on a run from a 1.5 manual

I wouldn't have minded if it was interesting

Oh I just had assumed it was something found in the history!

Brilliant, be class running that in to a Mazda dealer. Best thing on the ramp that day.

Quite. My experience is they quite like the old ones turning up.

Unless it’s a pig of a job, natürlich!

Wonder how Mazda know where all the old cars are? Will they contact the dvla for a names list from there database. Must be a gdpr nightmare.

A whole new thread here - the oldest recall.

We have one of those don't we? There was something for mk1 Punto brake lines issued at a time when most surviving examples would already have had them replaced for an MOT.

Booked in at Mazda Canterbury 3rd December 8am. Includes free* 'health check' the results of which will be very amusing I'm sure!

'I can't let you drive it like that m8'

I get nervous at main stealers, I will be padlocking my wallet before entry.

Free stuff! Can't go better than this!

Do a google 'US Toyota Tacoma frame replacement'... Class action won and BigT forked out a $hitload...

The 'bone of contention' was "..if it breaks [dealer dismantling your truck] Who Pays??"

Almost a story in itself...

That is nuts, considering how many Tacomas Toyota must have sold in the states this must cost them hundreds of millions of $$$. Of course theres always a risk that something might break, Looking at the parts that a being replaced in this case, you are basically getting half of a new truck for free here though. Use the chance and have a couple of suspension bushings replaced at the same time and you have a complete new chassis for next to no cost.
