Stuck in Park

Recommended Posts

Went to move my W202 Mercedes off of the drive as I have done dozens of times of late. Started it up today but gear lever will not move out of Park.

Any idea's as to what it could be? It's been fine for the year it's been parked up, and now the AX is going I could do with it back on the road as a back up car.

Is there a release thing you can stick a screwdriver in? I’ve had an auto before that has had a manual release thing that you push in whilst moving the lever.

Good luck.

Phone the council to let you out, or just climb over the gate.

Are your brake liguhts working?

Yes-can see their reflection in the kitchen doors. Was perfect last week-just get in, foot on brake, start and move lever to Drive. Halcyon days......

Now-cant see anything as all covered. Think it is the same shifter as on the 300e I (we) had.

Bum. Brake light switch already covered - battery healthy? Some can get emotional if they haven’t got everything required.

I often look on YouTube:

Not sure this is relevant. There may be other information on other clips...

See above^

Had this a few times on the breakdowns, Mercs can have a cable that runs from the brake pedal to the park lock pin on the shifter, if it breaks or gets disconnected, it won't come out of park. Take the trim off round the pedals and have a look.

That video is excellent.

Ten seconds of information stretched into three minutes because someone found iMovie on their computer.
