The truck retread division of Bridgestone no less. Back in the 80's it was regular to see a truck sporting an "I'm running on Bandags" sunstrip.

We ran Bandags on the drive axle of our old school buses for years, can't say I ever recall a failure on any of them and they wore really well.

Giti is not a ditchfinder company. They're good tyres. Maybe they're not quite Michelin, but they're among the better tyres out there

Giti is the "new" name for GT Radial, or as they were once known Gajah Tunggal; again we ran them on the coach fleet for many years and they were hard wearing and never seemed to succumb to the odd 50p wear pattern we ended up with on Contis.

One of the high quality* Tyres that came on the Mini.

Those are absolute dogshit. Or at least they certainly used to be.

A few years back I had a 100 mile round trip daily commute and had a tyre let go. Decided to replace both the fronts and phoned my local tyre guy who said he had a pair of Federals. What he actually fitted were these. There was some robust discussion, but he had nothing else and I had to get to work the next day.

Couple of weeks late, driving home in the rain... 6th gear at 60mph... in a 150bhp diesel Saab, the revs kept shooting up. Shit I thinks, clutch is going. However, following some *diagnostic driving it became obvious I was getting wheelspin. At motorway speed. In a 150bhp Saab, not a 300bhp 1.8T or something silly, but a 150bhp Saab.

I binned the fucking things pronto before they killed me.

Can only assume the name comes from a shit google translate effort of "aquaplane"

I spotted a Landsail van delivering at my local tyre place. I wondered what tyres it would have, but he drove off before I could see.

I bought a used car with four brand new Landsails a few years ago and they weren't amazing, but I have no particular complaints. I must have done 40k+ miles on those over the following year

Me love you linglong time

"crosswind" sounds ominous, hopefully you won't need two lanes of the motorway to yourself

I’m surprised the Chinese haven’t done a bit of research and found out the grip is a sought after property of tyres, and come up with names like Big Gripper or Jack the Gripper.

I reckon they’d still get it wildly off the mark, and we’d have names like Death Grip and Shit Blanket Stick Max.

Someone needs to make a tire called Tight Bastard.

Tight Bastard the tire for the person who does not value their own or others' lives and only thinks about the price.

Made of the hardest possible rubber so it never wears out but has a wet grip rating of Z.
245/40 ZR 22 costs £25 a corner.

Give it ten years and we’re be saying, wow those Linglongs are brilliant. I’m not risking my life with that Michelin shite.

Unfortunately by then, Linglongs will also cost more than Michelins.

That would be the Hi-Fly

Fitted some Hi-Fly winter tyres the other week and frankly the grip is like an excited Labrador puppy on laminate flooring

That wouldn’t convince me to consider them tbh.  What were the 5 that beat them ?  Had a pair of these disasters on the front of a Panda we bought our daughter some years back, fecking thing slid about wet and dry, I swapped them for the part worn rears until they wore out and then treated her to a set of Costco Michelins.
Why do all tyre dealers always lie telling customers……..’there good midrange tyres m8’, when a quick search online proves they’re always the cheapest option available at the time?
We bought our Moho from an elderly couple 9 years ago, the fella made a point of telling me he always asked his garage man to fit decent mid range tyres. We got it home, looked up the two brands front and rear and both were amongst the cheapest brands in the size.  Around the same time I helped my niece buy an Eos from an acquaintance of the wifes. Lovely lady, and as she was telling us about the car and where she had it serviced she added, ‘I always ask him to fit good midrange tyres’.  We got it home, I had a closer look, different brands front and rear, looked them up…… yeh you guessed it, both firmly amongst the cheapest you could buy.  Better than that, the last pair he fitted he obviously didn’t have any in stock so fitted a pair one size bigger instead.
Anyway, nothing to do with the brand name, but I noticed this cutie opposite where I’m working at a mates house in MK.  Classic MK tyre 😂
