:shock::shock: Trig, that black split screen Minor is the coolest thing on the thread so far......Even, and it pains me to write this; cooler than the RWD Starlet, a car that never fails to afford me something of a semi whenever I see a clean one.I'd take the greatest of pleasure in rolling up at a show in the '55 and parking next to the shiniest, most anally prepped Minor I could see on the field.

lol, sorry Michiel, I really should read back what i write before hitting the post button!.Thanks GJR, The bloke was like a god, He's dream car is a W reg brown Metro which is up the road from me, He said he's been trying to buy it for years as it's only down 6000 miles and belong to a old girl! (I really must try and photo it). That traveller was amazing!, he's welded metal pates to it over the years to hold together and the radio aerial was about 10 foot long!, Haven't seen a car like that for years. But that 55 Moggy was special, I mean just look at the rust on the bumper!.

Very special indeed.

Hereabouts, we see the usual, restored ones with their shiny chromed bits and their polished paintwork, windows proudly bearing those "we've seen the prices at the zoo" stickers, but cars looking that original and with a lovely patina of age are the real rarities 'cos folk will insist on doing them up to look better than new. :(

Posted

Not this old boy, I asked him if he will be painting the A30, He said that once he gets a mot on it he'll just use it as it is, Can't be done with painting it all up.Not many people about like that anymore!.

Apart from you seeing my beloved old Starlet (one of those cars I bought, and could then see what thus fuss was about them) that's an excellent set of photos. Those two guys and their collection need some kind of preservation order slapped on them, a suitably lenient one of course that allows them to continue in their current ways. I'm sure you being in your old car helped open up communications with them.

Excellent. That Vauxhall 10 is lush. I really do want a car from the late Thirties, probably a big Wolseley.

Thanks Trigger, cracking spots as always.

This last couple are from my local Ford sealers, There must be the last of the scrappage victims, The XM was in stunning condition, It was a 2.0i Turbo which must be rare, Even though it had 153000 miles on it, The interior was mint.

Love the A35 (A30? Smaller rear window than the one next to it)! And the Mayflower, wow, it's like a mini Rolls! Would love one though.

There really are some fantastic cars in that Essex Triumph yard. I would love to go and have a look round sometime. Do you know how much he wants for the A30 UAC 791? Looks really tidy 8)

This Hilux camper is amazing, I've seen it a couple of times now but never knew where it lived until today, The body is massive and it even has a 12ft ladder on the back!.

I'm guessing it's an Australian import, I need to get better photos of it.

Posted Image

Spotted this at work and had to zoom a long way on mobile so picture quality isn't great, Hiace waiting to leave the country, I like the way the hiab is on the roof.

This must belong to my neighbor's window cleaner as that's is green E30 Touring.

This lovely old P6 belong to a young lad, I've spoke to him a few times and he's on RR, I saw it a hour before this photo in town with a load of his mates in it.

And one of the very many plastic pigs about in town, this one is a van.

Loving the semi-detached bungalow. Can't say I've ever seen one like that before.

What model is that two tone green Capri? Is it a special edition? I haven't seen one in those colours before

I've been told it's either a Cabaret or Calypso special edition, Snazzy paint job though!

I remember this picture. The owner of the 2000E has a couple of old Jags on that drive. I think under the tarpaulin is a Red Jaguar XJS and a very early 2-door XJ6 at the top of the drive that had been sitting since forever.

Roof conversion on the Escort van looks very much like the ones they used to have on those run by Eastern Electricity.About the Capri/XJ-S/BMW shot, I think that place used to be a rather low-rent car sales place in the late-80s/early-90s. It looks familiar. If so, I remember an early Colt Lancer being for sale there, the sort that would have had narrow, upright rear lights, but some alternative units had been bodged onto it.

You could well be right, Here a rear view of it from the other day.

Mk 1 Granada being chopped up on the back of a low loader being prepped for banger racing on a local dodgy estate, They also had P5 that had transformed into a banger car as well in the driveway.

This got me very excited on Friday whist i was in Lymington, This old boy pulled up to collect his fishing boat, He is living the dream 8)

Great update Trig, but it's now got me thinking about a couple of things:1.) Where do banger racers muster up all the energy from to spend hours on a car taking bits off, fitting cages, re-routing petrol tanks (and radiators?), painting it up etc. all so they can smash it up? That's not a criticism, I just wish I had that much enthusiasm to play around with cars sometimes.2.) Judging by the CF pics, you got quite close and obviously spent a while taking them, all in public. Again, I wish I could just do that but I feel too self conscious usually. I'm glad you don't though, else we'd have missed some right tat!

Posted

I did feel a bit awkward hence why the last two where a bit fuzzy as i was trying to take them quickly, He came running past me a minute later on his way to his boat and asked me if i was working for inland revenue?! :?

Posted

Some fabulous spots there, Trig. CF for me, please.Don't bother commentating on the photos in future...most of us know what the cars are. :P Only reason why annotations should be with cars is if it's a pretty unusual, little known specimen.
