Superb tat haul though Trig!

Posted

Not bad for a 2 hour drive! The Clacton area is a mecca for shite spotting.

Posted

Is that the latest OMGRATLOOK accessory... a pallet for a boot mounted luggage rack?

Posted

Excellent spot haul, what a fine selection. Ive not seen too many MKI Transit horseboxes still about.

Posted

So i have been told on flickr, i feel silly now!I never noticed until i got home, nice to see a multi colour car about.

Quick update of my spots from the last few days.

I posted this in Minimads thread the other day, I was pleasantly surprised to spot these two in a Haulage yard, Shame the metal gates blocked the view somewhat.

I was in hot pursuit of this fine Bentley R-Type on the A14 yesterday, He must of been doing 80 mph!, Strangely the plate comes up as a Audi A6 on the DVLA site?.

Posted Image

A14 again on the Orwell bridge was this 1935 Riley Kestrel (Just noticed the Bentley above is also on the Orwell bridge)

Posted Image

This 190E caught my eye due to it's pigmented paintwork, Not seen a Red car like this for a while now, I would love to get a mop on it.

Posted Image

This couple live up the road from me, Theres also a G reg Civic and a G reg Prelude also on the same road.

Posted Image

Mrs. Trigger took this one of this HOT Allegro.

This 1957 Morris FD van is still used all the time, Its listed as only having 1 owner and it's been about for as long as i remember. I was hoping to get his brown X reg Metro as well.

It's actually a Morris LD ;)

It was featured in PC about 10 years ago, it did say the owner had had it from new and it was still used everyday, in the building trade IIRC.

in the building trade IIRC.

The pointing looks pretty good, so you are probably right.

I was pleased with myself today when i spotted this rat rod Amazon behind a unit in Colchester today.

It was someones daily driver and looked out of place being surrounded by nearly new tin, Most of them with private plates.

A few from walking the dog this morning.

E plate Granada was wearing later shape rear lights a 24v Alloys.

Posted Image

I have photographed these two before but I've never got a photo of them whilst on foot, The Bluebird is on SORN and is also a high spec, I like to think that they belong to someone who hates selling cars and just keeps hold of them.

Late 1993 GT version of the Sierra, I guess these are the DOHC engines, bet it does well.

Posted Image

And this little honey was up a driveway, It's believed to be a 46-47 Lincoln V-12 (Thanks Seth), Lovely looking car.

Posted

Hey those Sierra GTs are quite rare, it was a weird name to give it though, it didnt offer anything extra in the way of performance! Good spots as per Trig, plus your dog looks cute.

Posted

It doesn't look too bad, but what the lord was the owner thinking with the rear arches ?

Can't remember the name or much about it,but, Sly Stallone played a "maverick" cop in some movie about 20 years ago and drove around in a '50's hotrod.I think the owner of the Volvo is trying to emmulate that car hence the "spats" on the rear arches.Just checked...the film was called Cobra

Sounds a bit like me.

A mk2 poverty-spec Cavalier is definiately on my 'want to own list' My Dad had an A-reg one when I was kid. Never tried one out though.

Indeed it was.

Volvo Amazons have long been the favourite "Baby Mercury" of choice for UK/Euro kustom guys :D

Here's a good update for you, Especially the last one  , All from today.

Posted Image

Tatty Robin lives a few doors down, A couple of years ago some yobs tipped it over, I saw 4 different ones yesterday including a van.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Some better shots of the pair of Hondas from the other day, The CRX is quite rusty though, The gold Prelude lives a few doors down.

Posted Image

Still want a Sierra, this ones a pokey GLS.

Now here my bestest spot, I saw this outside Comet in Colchester this afternoon and had to stop for a photo, A few minutes later the owner came out and i got chatting to him.

He's was a old boy who had bought it new in 1980 from the Ford garage in West Mersea, There was not a mark on the car, Not even a speck of rust, He said he still uses it everyday and makes sure it's always garaged and polished, The only problem he's every had with it was a fault radio, It's still only done 80000 miles.

He's wife said she hates modern cars, they are to bumper and ratterly for her!, I aked if they show it but he said he wasn't interested in things like that!. Oh and he also said that he would never sell it even though he's had quite a few offers for it!.

For '81 model year I think. Rubber with chrome insert. Before that it was just a tape, but not like the ones in the above example...........like this!

Posted Image

Posted

The red one i saw was a early Mk 5 on a 1980 plate, The old boy said he's never changed it and even the black pin stripe stickers on the side are orginal.

Posted

Wow, that Cortina is Tremendous!!The blue Sierra GT is the other one for me. Mark.

Posted

That Cortina is in amazing condition! It looks as if its just the factory. I really like the fact that since new its been kept garaged and polished. Something I'd hope to achieve with my current Sterling. Unfortunately I dont even have a drive, and the nearest council garage around my area is a fair trek

Posted

I'm quite staggered by the amount of tat in my area, This next installment is just from a 2 hour drive in my town this afternoon, You'll love this!.

Posted Image

Posted Image

In Asda car park, Has a Arthur Daley sticker in rear window so i guess it belong to someone young.

Posted Image

This GTE is starting to get a bit tatty.

Posted Image

Allegro 1.3L on trailer, Not taxed since 2008 and with knackered suspension.

Posted Image

This Daimler Vandan Plas 4.2 hasn't been taxed since 2004.

Posted Image

Posted Image

There's still a few TR7's knocking around Ipswich, also next to it was a few old Peugeot's.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Bedford CF and Austin Seven up a driveway.

Another Sierra.

Posted Image

Now there a story with the next lot, I was driving on an estate when i saw these Vintage car's on the side and the chap cleaning one so i stopped and started chatting to him.

Posted Image

The Red and black one is a 1935 Morris Eight, He uses it everyday in the summer for work and has had it 14 years, But it's getting a bit rough now. (his words, not mine)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

He also has this 1935 Morris Eight which he's had 18 years, It was restored before he bought it.

Posted Image

Posted Image

He bought this 1939 Vauxhall Ten last year unseen from Yorkshire, He's still doing a bit of mechanical work on it.

Now this next set of car's belongs to his neighbour, He's a autoshite god, Still carries a Mk1 Nokia brick phone and hates anything modern.

This is his everyday car, a 1962 Traveller, He bought it in 1970 for £30 with a shagged gearbox after being used by a newspaper in Colchester as a errands car, It was amazing!, he couldn't understand why i wanted to photo it, i told him about autoshite but didn't seem to impressed!.

Posted Image

Posted Image

He was also telling me about how he bought both his children matching Mk1 Metro's, His daughters still get hers, a brown A plate one, She's only 25, His 27 year old son sold his for a MX-5.

Posted Image

This 1955 Minor was his weekend toy and used 'for best'.

Posted Image

Posted Image

This is a 1937 Morris GPO Linesman's van that lives in his shed, It is moted and taxed but he rarely uses it. It's called a lineman's van due to the extra window above the front screen so the driver could look at the line whist driving.

Posted Image

Posted Image

And this Austin A30 has sat in the bottom of his garden for the last 20 years, He is now trying to get a mot on it, He was fitting the engine when i saw it.

I even has a Mann Egerton sticker in the windscreen, the 1st chap i was talking to was telling me how he remembers that very car from 30 years before as his dad took it for a test drive when he was 19 but decided against it as it as the rear axle was noisy!.
