Spares are 'held like land title', by those in the circle and distributed to the worthy...

 

If you have a car, show willing to get it back on the road, and are trusted not to 'flip-it' [not probably the most lucrative use of 4 years of a life!] parts are around :)

And I would imagine that's what parts supply will be like

 

Quite different from what you would imagine 'Jowett Car Club' run their own parts department supplying the vast majority of parts for all Jowett models built between 1910 - 1954 - with the Javelin parts range being very strong / accommodating - alongside this is a very wide ranging technical knowledge amongst the membership that is also supplemented by marque specialists - incidentally - formed in 1923 the club is the worlds oldest one make car club

The Jowett Club are now aware of it so hopefully it will get rescued.

 

Indeed we are aware of the car and we are currently seeking a suitable home for it - if anyone would like to take it on and requires assistance / info on the model and how the club could help please do not hesitate to contact me  (Jowett Car Club - committee member)

Blimey, the mortal remains of not one but two Jowett Jupiters; this scrapper will have Jowett lickers descending on it like flies around (auto)shite. Complete with bonus Reliant Rebel van. 12,475.2 autoshite points awarded.

Yes I did - This one - The car is now fully restored and with it's owner in Switzerland - it will however be on display at the NEC restoration show on the Jowett Car Club stand - 23rd March - 25th March - Hall 5 stand 625

No it's not - that Javelin is due into my workshop at the end of March in order to correct / sort out the problems created by the previous so called professional bodyshop

When my dad lived in the Southern Hemisphere he found a Javelin buried in his back garden.

 

For some reason he left it there.

Whatever happened to that Jowett they had Al Leeds City college?

 

Did it move buildings with them or did they just ditch it?

There used to be a highly patina'd Javelin parked up out the front of Flynn's legendary wrecking yard in Cooma, NSW. I'll look for a piccie when I get home.

 

UPDATE: this is the one. I took this photo twelve years ago, so can't say for sure if it's still there...

That looks like an art installation. Looks like a lovely place to sit and enjoy a cup of tea. Or something long and cool on a nice summer day.

When my dad lived in the Southern Hemisphere he found a Javelin buried in his back garden.

For some reason he left it there.

A mates dad was offered a bsa in the 70s when nobody wanted them, even the scrap man wouldn't collect it , he had nowhere to store it so the guy ended up using it as hardcore under a patio, roll on 25 years and they're having the patio relaid so he goes to have a look at the remains being unearthed and ends up bringing it home

 

It takes a few years but many visits to autojumbles and a lot of hard work and he was riding round on it.

 

Somebody told the TV and they just turned up with a camera crew , interviewed him on the doorstep in his slippers then put it on the 6 o'clock news

 

There's a bit of the story here but all of it is subscription by the looks of it

That's an early series Javelin pre 1950 with the smaller headlamps and one piece grille - it looks fairly solid too - I have restored far worse than this before today

It is still with them and making slow but steady progress
