Just cos you clearly use the roof carrying stuff. I think they look smart. I fitted them to mine.

Ah - yeah. It came with the genuine roof bars and till fire my bike racks on when I next get a chance.

Lazyness dictates that I’ll probably not bother changing them unless required lol

Had this bad boy at the menders today. New DPF vaporiser and a Gates timing belt kit and waterpump.

Another day of marking my arrival by leaving the back passenger door as the front ones have frozen shut.

Anyone had issues with the instrument cluster not working but the car starting and running fine? None of the clocks work, EML and airbag light etc is on all the time and the indicators won’t work. I’ve hoyed the battery out and it was lowish at 12.4v. Enough to start the car but low enough to cause a potential issue with the car sensing the voltage is low. Hoping maybe it’s a voltage issue and not the fucking cluster that’s gone to shit.

Charged battery up... still broken! I’ll get it read tomorrow, fully expect a load of shit about coms failure pointing at a £200 bill for the cluster job. Ffs!

Had no issues myself. But you have the non-Convers+ cluster, don't you? Could be a good chance to upgrade.

It’s the bog standard cluster, which is fine for me. It’s an annoying fault because it seems to affect Focus/Fiestas, they don’t seem to have rectified it. That said it’s the first time it’s done me a FTP so it’s one of those things.

Cluster failure has been a regular fault with fords since about 2001! Seem worse if the car / van is laid up for any period of time . Most of the faulty ones I see are made by visteon . Sometimes come back to life with a good thump / clean and dry off

Yes it’s a Visteon those Portuguese masters of shit electrical devices. I’ve took the cluster out and the electrician is resoldering it, should be be ready tomorrow so we’ll see. Changed out the pollen filter as well.

How many cuts on the backs of your hands, from the filter change?

Shittest location, ever.

My hands are ok. Some say you don’t need to remove the glovebox but if you didn’t it’s incredibly hard work. The old filter was absolutely filthy, maybe it’s the original, who knows. The blower works a lot better now but the display is flashing, I’m guessing this is because I’m running the engine without the cluster in. It’s not chucking any fault codes up. We’ll see if the soldering job has sorted the problem out...

The pollen filter? I honestly thought it wasn't that hard to change.

The auto-electrical man resoldered the joints but it’s still not working. So he says it needs something else doing to it. Basically if that doesn’t work it’s new clocks time = scrap. Unless it’s possible to code some second hand clocks. Jesus wept...

Send the cluster off to ECU Testing and they'll fix it https://www.ecutesting.com/product-catalogue/ford/mondeo/dashboard-instrument-cluster/

They did a cluster for a Volvo S80 for me last year and this week they did the ABS pump for my daughters 207, fantastic service and not really that expensive.

Managed to find a place Clusterrepairs.co.uk that do a full refurb service, £130. So if this doesn’t work I’ll be doing that.

Flat battery after work tonight, 8.5v on the meter. So that’s fucking fucked then. It was that flat the Immobiliser sensed low voltage and kicked in. Jumping it off the car to get some juice in it got it going.

Not bad going though it managed 12 years as it was the original battery so I don’t suppose I can complain.

My new wagon let itself down with a binding front recently. Intermittently binding slightly and one big “holy shit the cars on fire” after a motorway run.

New front hoses were £20 and I’ll put new fluid in too including cleaning up the brakes and see how she fairs.

I've decided to modify my mk4!!

Mine did the same , and it was the caliper, hoses were fine. Had to do the discs and pads too as it warped the disc and cooked the pads.  Caliper seemed fine, slides were free, piston went back no probs but it started to bind after  mile or so. Odd. Just sorted the rear for the same reason, but that was just stuck pads.
