Stackridge are the best band in teh world. Although that song is one of their worst IMHO. They are on tour again this spring so go and see them!

So, this is a short film about ex-east germans exchanging their Trabbis and Wartburgs for used decadent Western motors in 1991.

It also shows them learning to use complicated and advance technology such as windscreen wipers, as well as failing to repair the new cars themselves as they would have done with their old one. Back in the early 90s people would dump their eastern bloc motors at the roadside. :(

 

 

I'm not sure if it's meant to be a bit tounge in cheek...

I love how when going round the hairpin bend the driver pretty much scrapes the left side of the Consul against the hedge @ 3:16! :lol:

Sierra, SD1 and (I think) Granada police car porn in these opening credits...

I used to watch this programme just for the opening music. Shame they've made it shit now - bring back the 80s I say.

 

 

Plus this later, mid 90s version of the title sequence has a snippet of quite a cool-looking criminal getaway in an SD1. I remember thinking this whole title sequence was absolutely ace at the time - looks a bit naff now TBH.

 

 

There are a few full episodes of this from the 80s and 90s on YouTube - the reconstructions of GR9 for crim-driven tat spotting!
