I think European market M classes were built in Germany, not the US.

Anyway, king of the council estate these days is a 2005 Range Rover Sport (usually with a cloned plate off something a lot cheaper to tax)

If it's a cloned plate why would you worry about how much it costs someone else to tax?

Valvoline are still trading - the Local motorfactors owner is also a rally driver n his car is sponsored by Valvoline; he has all the front of his new outlet massively strickered / wrapped in Valvoline livery

...Im a bit of a 'signs magpie' myself; I come across a few of the old ones on the maintenance job im on; its sort of a running joke with the lads I work with....

.... the motorway /town signs are strickly speaking 'illegal' to have in private possession here; a lotta folk were either stealing them from well known places as souvenirs' to keep for themselves or to sell on, or nicking the new ones are they are 2.5/3mm plate and can make good sump guards; really pliable to bend n with reflective side up facing the engine the make  tracing oil leaks etc via a torch, easier...

How much is the nantwich sign pls? It's the road I used to live on ( mates still do)

Nantwich sign is 173 cms x 99 cms high. I'm in Chester (not that far from the A51, as it 'appens) and how does £50 sound? The previous owner had two and said he got £70 for the other one.

I need to try and suss out if I can get the sign in my mki focus. I'm down from york and in the north west midlands on saturday so chester's within striking distance, assuming you can be around on that day. So this could work. But 173cm is pretty big, as you said. Other possibility is that I drive the mrs's mkii focus estate - which would do it with ease. Need to speak her but she's not in - gone off somewhere at 6 this morning. Will ring her later this morning.

I think I used to drive past the Nantwich sign.

What made the sign redundant, did the Russians nuke Nantwich?

No point in having a van if you're not going to use it.

Got to go back for the other one they had, that'll be fun as the wheels are off it and we've got to get it out of his garage and into my van.

A5301 no longer exists.

I mean, I'm sure the road is still there, but it doesn't have that number now.

This occurred today. It's the rattlebox Endura E 1.3 engine I think. MOT'd until April or something next year. If anyone wants a cheap runabout give us a shout!

What's it like underneath ie does it have one?

Cursory glance didn't look too bad.

Couldn't find the radio on the way home, here's why...

What do we know about it?

MOT fail (CV joint gaiter and windscreen wiper).

Still showing as MOT'd (but only just).

Fuel gauge possibly doesn't work.

No power steering (inflate tyres to 35psi).

May (or may not, officer) do 70mph in third gear.

Michelin tyres all round.

No radio!

What is happening with the Alto?

This is Cavcraft. Just asking that question means you've now committed to buying it.

Posted

Ex had an Alto from new - she'd bought it 6mths before I met her..... hateful little thing and shocking build quality*

On top of that it was a fucking automatic!!!! uuurrgghhhhh

It would however, rev the nackers off itself and you could get the thing flying. Impending nuns, kittens and death awaited you at the next corner - but she was German - Autobahns are straight enough!

Posted

Had one as first car. Brilliantly frightening little things. No apparent rev limiter, other than perhaps aerodynamics. 53hp and trolley wheels...ideal for HOONING.

to add - it did leave me wanting the JDM version!!!! oooooohhhhhhhhh - now yer tarkin!

Posted

It’s mad how it’ll fly in the lower gears but put your foot down doing 50 in top and it’s slower than a slow thing.

It does seem a bit coarse, more so at low speeds really but you can’t have it all.

Prior to us buying it it'd just failed the MOT for the first ever time I think.
