Had to fit a new wing mirror indicator and surround on a 11 plate Fezza tonight and it just clicked in place. No removing the door, wheels, seats, engine or owt to do this. It just clicked in place (on the 3rd or 4th attempt). Maybe modern cars aren't shit? Maybe its just French ones?

I appear to own 100% of Scotland's population of renault 18s.

*awards derskine the "scotoshite medal of gallantry"* for services to avoiding anyone else having to own the Renault 18;)

I know a couple of traders who will only sleep inside their stands surrounded by stock at BugJam as it's the only way to stop it getting nicked. It's been said that the show these days is more about drink n drugs n petty crime than VWs sadly.

The Classic Ford show at Santa Pod the other week just stunk off weed everywhere you went.

That black Capri looks the dogs too!

Last year at Bug Jam we were camped across from a load of spotty cretins who were only there to drink beyond their ability to drink, play shit music and rev their fiesta to death. Came to a head on the second night when they ransacked a camper next to them, and then started throwing pots and pans around hitting a few show cars. Found to have one ticket between them, they were escorted from site - and promptly tried to drive home, at which point the police met them at the end of airfield lane and nicked the driver. The car was still there when we left at the end of the day.

That is almost exactly what happened when we went to the Retro Show there a couple of years back; I wouldn't be surprised to learn it was the same bunch of cretins. We did have added entertainment from the kappa slappers they were with screaming at each other.

That's the beauty of being into BL/AR tat, you don't get any of that crap at BL day in Peterborough. Just loads of old farts and weirdos like me drinking tea discussing trim levels and so on.

Just realised that The Volvo's MOT certificate expires tomorrow and I haven't booked an appointment for it to obtain a new one, or indeed done the jobs I need to do on it (bad earth on one the rear lights, handbrake adjustment) in order that it has a decent chance of passing first time. Oops!

I heart quick jobs. Ordered a fitting kit from local motor factors yesterday and picked up this morning.

Literally 2 minutes refitted the retaining spring on rear brake shoes. Drum back on (wheels done up tight... Then double checked)

Job jobbed. No more squeaks, grinding or other odd noises. Handbrake is 100% all the time rather than when it feels like, braking much improved.

To add to joy i pulled off washer motor power cleaned it and lobbed it back on and can squirt for frenchland.

Expect ong hgf or similar later on today :)

I got a towbar for my Primera yesterday for £30, REEZULT!!! I have even ordered a little indicator buzzer thing so j can make a pukka job of the wiring.

I think today is the day that you invest in this then:

For the ho on the go, the towing hitch stripper pole can cut out the middle man and let you become a true street performer.

Obvs, it cost more than the car but a cruise past the clubs at 2.am with this on the back and 'I'm too sexy' blasting out on the stereo, all of the classy ladies of Crewe would be queuing up to have a go.

Although you do have to go to Peterborough. Is it worth it?

Another plus is Ferry Meadows is quite pleasant, so going to Peterborough town itself isn't required (which definitely would not be worth it!).  I'll be going this year as usual, possibly in the Metro or the ex-Bo11 220.

Hi all.A little update,Friday last week the appendix cut started to turn red and hard,Saturday very red and very hard. Then Sunday morning bright red so so hard then it burst.Just like turning on a tap with coffee coloured and blood puss pouring out. So Sunday afternoon i had another operation to remove the infection,I now have an open wound around 80-100 mm long that is packed with gauze. This is changed every day by the district nurses. Thanks to all for the get well soon's.

I have to admit that to my utmost shame I won't be there this year. I'll be touring round Wales with some mates in awld cars instead. Massive shame as I was looking forward to beige corner (your Metro, my Maestro and the Barrett/Garycox Allegro). :(

DVee8: if that's what happens when Autoshiters wish you to get well soon I begin to think we should maybe stop it.  Unless your eyes are receiving the benefit of regular nursey ministrations that is, in which case, as you were.

Seriously though, hope you get better soon, that sounds full of miserableness and suckage.

If I've still got the Acclaim then i might go to this as well.

Did they make adjustments* for it to pass these emissions?

They did that with the RoD and it hasn't run right since.

No, I watched the test and nothing was fiddled with. I think it just wanted a rest, MOT day is stressful for the poor thing, only day of the year it's run long enough to come off choke.

Sticking needle valve, BTW!

The Sirion is elsewhere so I need the 2CV back together again. Good job it only takes minutes to reattach a rear wing. Also, I've just seen a Raleigh Safety Seven!
