Can't say I've ever heard someone singing the praises of a P38.  I've owned two, both have escaped major issues (purely by luck..) but were flaky as hell.  You ever had to foot the bill when a V8 has slipped a liner scooters?

People say 'you can't run a Champagne car for Lemonade money'... but IMO, a P38 is more 'Rola Cola'  :-D

When you going to get a real Land Rover then scoots, and not one of these modern Series 3s?

RIP Silver Spring. My favourite drink of theirs was Bing.

P38 is not bad reliability wise until you bring electrics into the equation on the models up to '97

This week I 'ave mostly been getting back up to speed on old BMW flat twins, and in my international search for information on the difference between a Bing 64/32/202 and a 64/32/222  I "came across" this place....

It's 6.30am and I have an A-frame in the back of my Prairie. That can only mean one thing. Shite hauling time. Wish me luck... it's gonna be a long day!

That statement alone has made my week. Autoshite gold.

Live update! Still on the way there. 124 miles done, 117 to go. Developed a mega bad misfire but cured it by pulling all the leads off and lathering them in Holts Damp Start. Time for some new leads methinks. Onward!

Sorry, couldn't get this image out of my head at the mention of the word Prairie.

Head gasket changed on the polo, didn't take too long but fired it up and wouldn't idle.

On closer inspection the idle control valve pipe had come off, the clip holding it on was shoddy though.

A walk down to a local shop for a jubilee clip this morning and then will need to take the inlet manifold off again to get at it.

Pain in the arse but on the plus side whilst it was running (not idling) it sounded much healthier.

Arrived without incident. Managed to use 40 quids worth of juice in 246 miles. Let the shite purchasing commence.

It's official. I am still a Discovery owner. Dispute has been closed, my fee has been returned and it feels like I've got a new car without having to go anywhere! Which confirms that selling it was the wrong decision. Happily, the financial chaos that forced my hand seems to have resolved itself, so it looks like it can definitely stay. I'm very happy.

Just spent a marvelous couple of hours oggling the finest collection of eastern bloc tat. Now I'm A framed and rolling northwards. Feels a bit sketchy in the wet mind!

Spent the afternoon/evening helping my garage marra install a new clutch in his Transit van. Surprisingly painless job in fact. Now I have access to a serious towing weapon should one be needed!

There is indeed a Pony on the Prairie. I'd post a pic but can't sus it out on my phone. I'm only 25 from Ratdat acres anyway so it can wait. Meantime I have food here that needs eating. Little Chef for the full shite collection experience.
