I've never driven one and have no idea of the stopping distance. They will be rod-operated I assume. 

I think 90 is a conservation estimate- some of these with the larger engines were 120+. A most elegant way to die.

Beautifully conservative presentation without all the gee-jaws people adorn these things with.

Those brakes are frigging massive by 1920s standards.  Some cars in those days didn't have brakes on the front wheels at all.

Years ago, driving up to high Wycombe on the M40 with my dad to collect my first range rover, we were overtaken by a Bentley very similar to that, probably doing 85, 90 mph.

Dad was a big Bentley enthusiast, but even he said 'thats going to take him until Birmingham to stop!' 🤣

Every so often I have the realisation that there are cars (and other objects) that will be 100 years old within my lifetime, that will forever feel "not that old" to me because they were still kicking about in reasonable numbers when I was little.

I remember being somewhat put off at classic car shows how many late 70s cars there were, because there were still quite a few hanging on in daily use around me.

I got the Muppet Treasure Island reference as soon as you said it. It is genuinely one of my favourite ever films. Up there with The Third Man, Dr Strangelove, Some Like It Hot and Gregory's Girl.

Sat in a pub garden near Tewkesbury today and a Volvo 142 went past. I never even knew that was a thing. I've googled them and they all seem to come up LHD. Were they sold over here? 

It was matt black and had 999 in the reg. Unfortunately I couldn't catch the rest, it wasn't hanging around. It looked a bit like this.

I think 1924 was the year British manufacturers generally went over to 4 wheel brakes.

I went to a Bentley meet at Leeds castle in 1986 ish .. i seem to recall a tatty but running 3 litre  Bentley  for sale for around   12 _14000 ?

I also seem to recall a  Metro 6r4 's   minus engines  going for  around 2k  in Autosport classified  after group B cars were banned ?

The “derby “ Bentleys were often the poor relation. Anyway, this one was beautiful and I was imagining myself as John steed blasting down the local roads.

My wife worked for Diana Barnato Walker  ..her father had the odd Bentley . In fact he gave her one for her 21st

More likely to have been £14000 40 years ago if tatty. That was before prices went mental. 

That's two of Mr. Barnato's Bentleys. The one he raced the Blue Train in, and the one everyone thinks he raced it in, owing to Terence Cuneo's famous painting of the event. In actual fact, he didn't take delivery of the coupé  for months after it happened.

According to my mechanic friend in Hampton the camera  off the sunbury roundabout a308 road was cut down and not replaced.

It's because it's run by Capita - in effect privately run. They may be able to see how much each camera generates. There is also probably a service level agreement with TfL. It's all very secret - the location of the cameras is secret. 

A pot hole - nothing in it for anybody let the pleb's suffer.

Ledbury, found a mk1 Fabia. 

 

Great Malvern Priory 

 

Miserable day. Not actually raining but the cloud was so low we had to drive through it as we came into Great Malvern. There was actually more hill behind those trees at the top of the picture. 

 

And the view from the top would have been very impressive on a clear day. Spot the Škoda.
