danthecapriman Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 It has wandered slightly... but we are gradually heading back towards the Ford side of things by discussing your Mercury Grand Marquee Bro-hamI don't know why I wasted so many years at school! I'm learning correct English here!
Junkman Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 This one then is wrong? Bloody GM, can't do anything right. You don't get pronunciation issues with Fords! Yep, like Torr I know. Or Deelugs. Or Kahninennel. Or Monneree. Or Markeez. Or Cummitt Caleyentee.See, it's as easy as Ayl Tea Dee. Fuck them Krauts with their Tonnesis, too. danthecapriman 1
flat4alfa Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Just to annoyingly confirm Cam-aeroDuhvilLuhsalSevilSimaronLuhmonsMarkeeCutlas See-airaMontarayPol-airaBro-um. (silent 'h' in the up-market commercials, what with Rhode Island accents) All but Camaro and Ciera said quickly without pause I'll show you how players drive, on a escapade, lets ride in the Escalayd cort1977, Uncle Jimmy, Junkman and 1 other 4
Tamworthbay Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 If you say Beer can slowly you are saying bacon in Jamaican. richardthestag, danthecapriman, Bobthebeard and 1 other 4
Slartibartfast Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 If you say Beer can slowly you are saying bacon in Jamaican. And if you say Space Ghetto in an American accent you're actually saying Spice Girl in a Glaswegian accent. Junkman, Tamworthbay, cort1977 and 4 others 7
Junkman Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 And why did Chrysler call every model a Lee Barrun for a decade or two after Noo Yawkers had fallen out of fashion? They were only a posh Plymmeff Grain Fooree. flat4alfa 1
Datsuncog Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Bloody GM, can't do anything right. You don't get pronunciation issues with Fords! Fun at the parts desk: trying to get bits for a Ford Cougar but they insist on giving you bits for a Ford Kuga. danthecapriman 1
flat4alfa Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Mustang Mark Wun in the period commercials Although common parlance has always been Mack Wun JeeExEll 1

danthecapriman Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Linda Barron is even nicerI don't know any Linda Barron's. So I just googled the name. You must be old! Seriously old!

flat4alfa Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I don't know any Lynda Baron's. So I just googled the name. You must be old! Seriously old! Ah yes, but she still looked like this when LeBarons went all downsize into K-body Grand Furies with FWD. Which I think what Junkman was getting at. Or maybe not. Haven't we hijacked this thread well... Slartibartfast and danthecapriman 2

flat4alfa Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 FORD Durango?? A scaled-down Ranchero based around Fairmont danthecapriman, Joloke and eddyramrod 3
Clanger Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 A scaled-down Ranchero based around FairmontOnly 212 made - not an official production vehicle, but still interesting.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Durango Sheefag 1
danthecapriman Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Never seen a Ford Durango before! They actually look alright I think.I'd have a Fairmont... eddyramrod and Joloke 2
eddyramrod Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 So would I; it's pretty much a Fox Mustang in a less fashionable suit. chaseracer, Joloke and danthecapriman 3
DodgeRover Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I would have a Fairmont too but only the Aussie variant with 351C danthecapriman 1
danthecapriman Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I like the Futura coupe... 1980 Ford Fairmont Futura by hartogrob, on Flickr eddyramrod and flat4alfa 2
Sheefag Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 A scaled-down Ranchero based around Fairmont Prior to this, I'd only ever heard of the Dodge Durango. https://www.dodge.com/durango.html
eddyramrod Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 You've got to find one first! It's probably easier to find a Mustang II in-budget. Joloke 1
Cavcraft Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Lee Barron is a mate of mine. He runs the TUC in the West Midlands. Small world. I know his brothers, Drug and Bloodyred.
AnthonyG Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 The USAF used to run Fairmont estates as airbase runabouts in the 1980s, used to see quite a few round Oxfordshire. They were various shades of doom blue, with blue vinyl interiors and I imagine 6 cylinder (or even 4 cylinder) engines. Basically like a cop car but without an interesting engine/suspension set-up. That Futura Coupe is a honey though! eddyramrod and Joloke 2
danthecapriman Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 A Fairmont would make a really good* and interesting daily driver I think. It's big and unusual enough to be of interest and stand out yet still small enough to run around in easily. As much as I love the really big old beasts, they aren't exactly the easiest of things to drive or park in some places over here! The Fairmont and similar sized yanks are roughly the sort of size of a Volvo 700 or similar Euro cars. Maybe a touch bigger, so should be just the job. Then you could have a big full size as the weekend fun car! eddyramrod 1
danthecapriman Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Well well well what do we have here... https://www.ebay.com/itm/1981-Ford-Ranchero-durango/263386170012?hash=item3d530a029c:g:2B0AAOSwzXxaMWO-&vxp=mtr Durango! Sheefag 1
