*Bear in mind this will be a slightly protracted affair due to a social engagement I have before making the return trip.*

Is that a KR1S next to it?

Edit: probably not, what a shame.

Actually the only reason I stopped by was to put some air in the tyres - the bike came with a tank of fuel. Nearly home now!

YEAH.. ZZR :)  Love these things, on my 4th.

I never knew the bloke out of Boogie Down Productions owned a bike.

Dyslexia Rules K.O.  Thought that said KRS1.

Back home now, fed and watered.

The basics: its a 1993 ZZ-R600 E1. 48k on the clock, some minor service history and a few little issues. I rode it back from Plymouth to Exeter, and got a bit cold doing so. Bearing in mind it was bought for £not much, the plastics are good, the tank is a replacement as the original got rust inside, tyres are good (although they are mismatched), a previous owner has put some effort into polishing various metal bits, and it rode from Plymouth back to Exeter easily. That said, the wheels don't match (front is polished, rear isn't), the headlight dipped beam is out and the main beam only works on the flash function, theres a rattle at idle that is probably the cam chain tensioner needing attention, the rear shock is rather well sprung, it needs a good service and applying the rear brake - even stamping on it - doesn't give exactly inspiring results.

Still, it'll be a good project. I'm seriously thinking of a repaint, maybe into some kind of deep metallic gunmetal grey with metallic Kwak green bits here and there.

We lost dip and main on the M1 heading for Dover in the middle of the night on the 1100= turned out previous owner had been on Ebay and bought a 130/90 H4 bulb, which melted the plug and killed the lights... Luckily a chap in an Almera saw what was happening and drove alongside us until the services- Thanks, whoever you were!

Polished wheels look nice, but are a pain in the erse- GPZ had them and they'd go dull 20 mins after Solvol. They got painted. All my Kwak rear brakes were shite, but passed MOT's and Rattle at idle used to happen on mine too 'cause the idle was slightly low.

Good to see you still have twin pipes, singles tend to give an annoying flat spot and can be a bit fluffly low down.

The twin pipes sound mega, I want to paint the wheels too. Black or green, depending on whether I get the plastics and tank done or not.

My zzr1100 had a terrible rattle at idle which turned out to be the nut holding the alternator sprocket working loose. Apparently TADTS but I know the chain tensioner is also TADS

Looks good. Don't forget to balance the carbs too as that can make bikes rattle.

looks good, but fuck riding at this time of year, too cold and too much shite on the road.

kawasaki clutch rattle????? another TADTS

Well played. Too much salt on the road this time of year.

Salt - nasty stuff. Plan is to thoroughly clean it, service it and then look at what can be done next.

I don't reckon it's clutch as the rattle stays the same whether the clutch lever is pulled or not. Disappears as soon as revs are applied which is why I reckon cam chain tensioner. Supposed to be a simple job to adjust so we shall see!

It needs the rear brake overhauling and a braided line fitting (the fronts have already been done), and a matching tyre fitting to the front as the Bridgestone on the back is the better of the two.
