My daughter would pass out with excitement if we did her room like that!

What can it be? Ignoring the flags and marked car-park it looks like a rural schoolhouse. Or at one time a farmhouse maybe?

Scotland's Secret Bunker.

A decommissioned concrete-encased Cold War safe bunker where ongoing events could be monitored and 'controlled' (ha ha) in the event of a nuclear attack.

I went there in 2013 and really enjoyed the visit. Not transport related but some of you coming up to Shitefest may like to check it out on the way home.

Loads of pics and info on here.

Is that where all the sunshine and healthy food is hidden from the general population?

Insert bucket of sunshine joke here

The midgies may not put in an appearance, or be in reduced numbers; the late cold spell + snow will hopefully have fucked the little bastards in the ground.

I'm getting very excited! This time next week me and max should be in scotlandshire kipping down for the night!

Millions of the fuckers were out last weekend....

They're out in force when the wind drops up here near Ullapool (I'm on holiday with the missus). Have I asked for directions to the venue yet? I'd be travelling from Yorkshire on the Friday afternoon if I go.

Posted

Tip-top - I have the directions! If I'm lucky, it's but 5 hours 51 minutes from work's car park - so if I'm furtherly lucky (!) and get to leave at 4pm-ish, I'll be there by the gloaming.

We shall be waiting.

As I think David mention, SVM Catering will be in attendance; we can provide contraband from our exclusive* butchers outlet for those from the south. This is a perfect opportunity for those who wish to clog their arteries from the comfort of their own homes so don't miss out!

Looks like I'll be Saturday only for this due to other commitments but still coming.

There is a possibility I'll be in the ex-SiC Saab rather than on the bike (depends on my other half's health) so ready for a major* prep session I've parked 2ft further back on the drive so it's level. Means I can check the oil when I do the tyre pressures.

Bike needs a wash to get approx 1/2 ton of midge off the front of it as they weigh so much they affect the handling!

Myself and Ghosty have our place to park up for the night on Thursday thanks to Bavarian retro! 130 miles from Tebay, 133 miles from shitefest!

Posted

Bavarianretro is just down the road from where I am now. That said I'll be kipping in the new gaff in the city centre of Glasgow about 10 miles down the road as I had promised sloth_in_a_bowl the use of the second bedroom as recompense for using his back bedroom the time we went to the Electric Train Museum.

Posted

Sounds like we should schlep up the road to Glasgow for breakfast doesn't it...

Posted

Infact Dave, I could drop your dyson off on the way, one less thing to lug to shitefest for both of us!

Then you can show me a good Scottish fry up!

Posted

Sadly family commitments mean I can’t make the trip up now - hope everyone has a good time and maybe see some of you at the Festival of the Unexceptional/Field of Dreams in July.

Posted

Oh that's a shame, you won't see your old dyson being given to Mr fowler!

That sounds like a cracker idea however, given that I've not actually moved in yet, cooking supplies at the flat are limited so we may have to wander along to 'Spoons in the city for a breakfast. There's a little Tesco Local at the top of the road so I'll see what I can do.

Myself and cms206 usually rock up at Shitefests at about 1500hrs therefore we'll not be leaving 'till lunchtime as we're not bothering with the scenic route. I don't know what Mr _bowl will be doing regarding routes north.

So itsupty yous.
