Have any plans been made for activities during the weekend? Scenic drives, scrapyard visits etc?

Bugger driving to rural Aberdeenshire to go visit a scrap yard. Alford Transport Museum may be my goal. Or finally getting to visit the ruins at Dunottar Castle. Failing that I may take my train pass so that someone can drop me off at Laurencekirk train station and I can jump up to Aberdeen and get pished with my old megabus chums if they're available.

Dunotter sounds good to me, and or a scenic drive etc.

The Grampian Transport Museum at Alford appear to be doing a military vehicle thing on the Saturday.

Scenic drives start at my place! Plenty of good routes available. Alford is just over 35 miles away, and about 1hr 10 mins but a nice run.

Due to work commitments (such as being in actual employment for once) I can't attempt to follow the rest of the SVM and will need directions to Cassa Del Saabnut please.

Surely we need to set up a welcoming party for Dollywobbler and Catsinthewelder!

In other news..... I am definitely too nice to you lot! Here is an offer for anyone who does not have/fancy putting up a tent and/or does not fancy sleeping in their car.

Available for hire is the following Luxury* Holidayhome* Accommodation. When I had my house rebuilt about 6 years ago, I bought an old 2 berth touring caravan to live in whilst work was undertaken. I expected it to be for 4 to 6 weeks, but due to faults found in the house, it ended up being for 14 months, including a full NE Scotland winter! As a direct result of this, the mojo for using it again has been absent, so it has become another store.

Today I decided to investigate and removed more carefully selected and valuable items junk and evicted any mice that may have decided to utilise it and as a result if anyone attending Shitefest would like to utilise it, they are welcome. It is not quite level (never did get around to sorting that) but it is clean and I believe rodent free. Sleeps 2 max. First come first served, let me know if you want to "book" it in advance or first to sling a sleeping bag in at the weekend gets it!

A couple of photos, it is better inside than out!

The Aberdeenshire field of dreams maybe? I can never remember exactly where it is but it's not very close to Saabnut's place.

I'm interested in going to this, it's relatively local* and I have the weekend off for a change.

I'll probably pass on doing stuff on Saturday, it's always fun just staying on the field! I skipped the museum last year too, was much more fun playing with the beige bx!

Ill skip the caravan too, someone more deserving than me can have that, I've got a 1 berth campervan!

I'm thinking of coming through on the Friday afternoon, having a blether and a few tinnies, sleeping in the Olds, then leaving on the Saturday afternoon. Can't do Sunday as I'm the setter upper for our wee car club at Errol car show.

What's the midgie count like at the moment saabnut? They've come out to play here in Angus.

No sign of the little bastards as yet, but I am expecting them to make an appearance soon.

just packing my van and thanks for the reminder about taking protection;  I'm one of those who they feast on.  I have the fine mesh hood still in the front of the van from two years ago.

I still lack a tent, but I did buy another 1970s leather jacket yesterday. I'm fucking stupid.

Make a tent out of 1970s leather jackets!

I'm sure it'll be lovely*

Yes, I know we're due to turn up soon, but what about the midgies?

Oh, is it ok for me and 17-Coffees to bring a mutual friend along? He's not on autoshite (as far as we know) but we keep trying to persuade him to join. He likes the idea of a weekend camping in a field getting drunk with other nutters. He also drives a proper bit of modern shite, a Golf Plus!

I have however just purchased a second hand, rather mouldy looking, tent off eBay for £25, so I'm sorted.

Priorities. You haz them.

£25 tent was posted within an hour of me buying it. They must really want it out of their life.

I'm treating this as a good* omen.

SVM Catering will be in attendance at the fest.

Brilliant! The SVM Catering Division are hangover reducing, artery furring heroes.

Also as you lot normally bring us down the Scottish delicacies, is there anything quintessentially English you want bringing up? Like round sausage or whatevs.

We should so take the piss and visit some charity shops for those proper tea sets and teapots my gran uses... What's the point of a fucking cup I can't put at least one of my fingers through the handle?
