barrett
Soz, bit of a weird one this. This fetching Tundra S1 Allegro just popped up on Facebook. Is it Louise2cv's old one? It's owned by a young lass who seems a bit 'new' to the shit old car world and I juat thought it might be nice to connect with a previous owner. I might just be talking total bollocks of course, but I don't recall seeing many, if any, other survivors in my fave BL shade of all time... chaseracer, Junkman and Squire_Dawson
SiC
I spotted this same car parked in a garage that's around the corner to me. The same garage, that if others follow some of my threads, that had the orange rubber bumper MGB GT that started my obsession with and hunt for MGBs again. barrett
Aha, well, Louise if you see this and you use Facebook you should join the 'Austin allegro appreciation society' page as I'm sure the new owner would love to hear from you
SiC
Looking at the MOT history, it appears that it was MOT'd south of Bristol - a good 20-30 miles away. No idea why it appeared near me. Is the new owner local to Bristol, or further away? Wondered if it's changed hands since I saw it.

lisbon_road
Much better car than their reputation in my opinion - not that they were brilliant but others of the period had their issues. Always seems a shame when they headline the 'bad cars' lists and stuff like that. mercrocker, Sigmund Fraud, Junkman and 5 others
dollywobbler
Ok. Some interesting wiper evolution going on there. It now seems to have LHD arms and parking. lisbon_road
Louise2cv
Oh yes! It is! Thanks for spotting it Hopefully it is a sound little starter classic, seemed solid when I had it. It is about of a bitsa, having had the auto box swapped for a manual, but that included an A+ engine, so maybe it was a good move? Not sure what's happened with the wipers, will have to dig out my pics. Jim Bell
John F
I'm not known as an Allegro licker, but that cowpat green paint really suits it. Junkman and flat4alfa

Louise2cv
Yeah. Must have been nice in there though: she went home and bought her own! Junkman and chaseracer
BeEP
Yeah. Must have been nice in there though: she went home and bought her own! Do you have any idea what happened to Abby's (YCE872T I think). It might* have been me who sold it to her, including the impromptu fuel tank change (somewhat embarrasing when the person you've sold a car to fills it up and discovers there's a rust hole in the top of the tank!). Last MOT expired June 2017 and no current record of ownership with the club. Louise2cv
Louise2cv
Not sure. She sold it after a period of ill health. I will ask
Louise2cv
It went to someone Bristol way.
BeEP
Thanks. Hopefully it's merely resting rather than dead. Interesting co-incidence that both yours and hers have headed to Bristol!

SiC
Went for another walk and took a few more pictures. Looks like a very sweet little thing and in pretty good nick. I didn't look underneath, but up top she looks alright. Not shiny and could do with a good polish, but no obvious rust. Louise2cv
What's happened with the coach line? Is one black and one gold? Someone has done something with the outside because one front wing was a slightly different colour and missing it's pinstripe when I got it. SiC
What's happened with the coach line? Is one black and one gold?Yes I'm pretty certain one side is black and one is gold. Someone has done something with the outside because one front wing was a slightly different colour and missing it's pinstripe when I got it.The paint on each panel varied shade depending which angle you looked at it. I'd think of it as shite, wannabe flip paint. DeeJay and Louise2cv

Magnificent Rustbucket
shirley those are RHD wipers, as they clean upto the RHS A pillar????I agree. They look like RHD wipers to me too. Lovely old thing, this. I have always been a fan of the rear lights of the Allegro - and so positive a name. They could have so easily called it the allegretto, but optimism prevailed. BeEP
DW is correct, they are LHD wipers. Look at any other RHD Allegro; the wipers park on the driver's side. Here's mine for example (albeit with wipers not quite parked!)
Magnificent Rustbucket
But surely yours wipes more of the screen on the passenger's side - whilst the ex-Louise 2cv's wipes more of the screen on the driver's side - which is why RHD-set wipers clean up to the right hand side A pillar - even though they have to travel over a little more of the screen on their first wipe. I have something of a hangover this morning, but that seems right to me!! Like these? - Or do these LHD cars have wipers set to RHD? Confused now. Skizzer
I’m with Mag Rust on this. But it wouldn’t surprise me if RHD Allegros were all wrong from the factory - or even randomly-handed. Magnificent Rustbucket and Sigmund Fraud
