Hey a BMW 316 AUTO!!!! The grey paint seems an apt choice for this car which I imagine to be slow, noisy, uneconomical, spartan and generally free of any driving appeal at all.

Good to see the "I'll do anything to get a BMW, even buy the one that's more basic than a miniMetro" mentality isn't a new thing. I imagine for the same price you could have got a very nice Granada with bells and possibly even whistles.

Can you buy a dirt spec BMW any more? Every single one I see seems to be running a psuedo-'M' spec with 20" alloys and piercing xenon headlights these days.

1.6 petrol, must be some operation getting that thing wound up with 6 or 7 fat sweaty builders sat in the back! 750 euros.

Trust me, it would take a week. I had 8 teenage luvvies in mine, and didn't/couldn't get out of second with a 2.05 and a twin choke!

DVLA has the tax on it having expired 01/10/09, so it had languished in that barn, forgotten, forlorn, unloved, for SIX WEEKS! Incredible to find something so rare after such a period!

It was probably parked up in a barn for a week - by that definition there could be lots of "barn finds"...

some impressive horse shite in the ad too:

If you were thinking of buying say an early Golf for Restoration purposes. This will make a Fantastic car for a project both during and after completion. The five cylinder engine revs to 6000 revolutions per minute as standard and sounds AWESOME with an aftermarket SPORT exhaust.

The seller manages to convey appoximately NO INFORMATION AT ALL about the condition of this car in his description

That Transit looks ace, has to be said. I imagine the engine swaps for a more modern unit help no end. That audi ad made me angry reading it, the seller doesnt appear to have much of a clue really.

"Rather than be used to buy back toxic debt from crippled financial institutions, Sir Mervyn King cofirmed that the money will instead be used to buy the golf and fit it with some carlos fandango wheels, a 67 ball on the aerial and some chinese-made pram springs"

I used to own that! Bought it out of the Practical Classics small ads, got it home and when I went over it I realised it needed a hell of a lot more work than I thought, so swapped it for a Nova. That was over seven years ago - it's been on the chap's lawn ever since. The engine was a runner when I had it, but it had no brakes. For what it's worth, the welding that has been done will probably have been done to a pretty high standard as the chap is (or used to be) a professional welder.

Oh thats a clear advert, a 'running and driveable' Maestro van which needs a battery to start and some brake components.....He has no excuses for the rear lights though, just nick some disco ones you clown!
