it just doesn't blend in, nor does it really fit anywhere.

According to wiki it didn't officially stand for anything, but some considered it stood for "luxury trim decor" or "Lincoln type design".  I'd love a car like this, just something about American cars from this era I can't get enough of.

I have only just arrived at this thread and must say what a truly wondrous purchase you have made of which I fully approve! Love the greeniness and hope that you have fun with the LTD which should be sitting on my driveway really. I have owned a series of 1973 GM veehickles, Pontiac Grand Prix, Buick Century and Cadillac Coupe de Ville, cornering wobbliness ensued. I have a hankering for another, nearly went after a '73 Olds wagon last year, ideal shopping car. Oh changing to the R16, saw a very nice low mileage TX last week, supposedly less than 10k on the clock. A friend has an equally low mileage TL, Spalding must attract the 16 as a specialist lives here as well. I like your photo of the LTD and Mini so here's a gratuitous one or two of my Impala intimidating a friend's Mini.

There's quite a lot of differences but they are essentially the same.

These cars were actually Fords second best selling platform ever. Second only to the model T!

I love this era of American cars. Two favourites are the Lincoln MkIII and IV, and the Imperial LeBaron. I have a thing for covered head lights. Too much Frank Cannon as a nipper!

In reality, as cool as they are they are a ball ache! Mine are vacuum powered so there's miles of vacuum hoses and reservoir tanks and a pair of vacuum actuators (made of unobtanium of eye wateringly expensive to get made!) cool as fuck when they do work though!

Does indeed. 429ci, 7.0 litres of ozone killing goodness! Mines the last year of the 429ci engine, afterwards was the 460ci (7.5L) and 400ci (6.6L) only.
