vulgalour Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 There's an irony that I couldn't spell retarded correctly there. eddyramrod, barefoot, Rusty_Rocket and 2 others 5

Conrad D. Conelrad Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 We drove it around a bit today, three people abreast in total comfort. No matter how hard you try, or where you take it,it just doesn't blend in, nor does it really fit anywhere. Don't know about that... sporty-shite, coalnotdole, They_all_do_that_sir and 17 others 20
TripleRich Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 I wondered what LTD actually stands for. According to wiki it didn't officially stand for anything, but some considered it stood for "luxury trim decor" or "Lincoln type design".  I'd love a car like this, just something about American cars from this era I can't get enough of. danthecapriman, 59Impala and eddyramrod 3

Vin Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 I don't know that much about yank stuff, so wasn't really aware of the Ford Limited but that looks quite smart. Noice 8)
59Impala Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 I have only just arrived at this thread and must say what a truly wondrous purchase you have made of which I fully approve! Love the greeniness and hope that you have fun with the LTD which should be sitting on my driveway really. I have owned a series of 1973 GM veehickles, Pontiac Grand Prix, Buick Century and Cadillac Coupe de Ville, cornering wobbliness ensued. I have a hankering for another, nearly went after a '73 Olds wagon last year, ideal shopping car. Oh changing to the R16, saw a very nice low mileage TX last week, supposedly less than 10k on the clock. A friend has an equally low mileage TL, Spalding must attract the 16 as a specialist lives here as well. I like your photo of the LTD and Mini so here's a gratuitous one or two of my Impala intimidating a friend's Mini.  mercrocker, mercedade, gordonbennet and 11 others 14
Ghosty Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 so wasn't really aware of the Ford Limited  It shows. ELL TEE DEE eddyramrod, barefoot, danthecapriman and 1 other 4
danthecapriman Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Here's a side on view of mine to compare the similarities. IMG_0207 by Dan Clark, on Flickr There's quite a lot of differences but they are essentially the same. These cars were actually Fords second best selling platform ever. Second only to the model T! somewhatfoolish, Junkman, Sudsprint and 9 others 12
Magnificent Rustbucket Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 I love this era of American cars. Two favourites are the Lincoln MkIII and IV, and the Imperial LeBaron. I have a thing for covered head lights. Too much Frank Cannon as a nipper! eddyramrod, danthecapriman and Junkman 3

Magnificent Rustbucket Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 They don't just look big, they look so substantial. And who can resist a rich Foxton Brocade front seat? Or a 32 US gallon fuel tank! Junkman, somewhatfoolish and eddyramrod 3

Magnificent Rustbucket Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 What motor does it have?  IIRC, it's the 429ci. Did Junkman say which engine his has?
danthecapriman Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 IIRC, it's the 429ci.Does indeed. 429ci, 7.0 litres of ozone killing goodness! Mines the last year of the 429ci engine, afterwards was the 460ci (7.5L) and 400ci (6.6L) only. Magnificent Rustbucket 1

Junkman Posted August 6, 2017 Author Posted August 6, 2017 This might be surprising news for many an Englishman, but the roads up North are indeed paved.Very badly paved, mind, they remind one of early 90s Albania, but paved nonetheless. danthecapriman, somewhatfoolish, eddyramrod and 1 other 4
