gadgetgricey Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 Just testing the water at the moment as space is getting a premium and the wife (quite rightly) is getting a little annoyed. Basically purchased this about two months ago, and its sat on the inlaws driveway ever since.Man login is that I get rid of this and then put a different car on their driveway,,,,, It's got issues but drove back from SE London to Birmingham without any problems. It's got MOT till the end of the month, so would there be any interest in a roffle at £2 a ticket. I'll let the yellow peril sell out first and then look at timings etc, Cheers Dave red5 1
Mally Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 I could possibly afford 5 tickets.Mines going for MOT this month and I'm not spending more than It's worth. However if it passes or I win the yellow peril its a no.
gadgetgricey Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 Right, had a couple of pm's regarding the Rover but been manic the weekend, so not had chance to get any pictures. Will try and get some tomorrow night at the inlaws. Selling the car cheap/spares repair price as only driven it a couple of hours from London back to Birmingham. After that its just sat on the driveway and not been touched. See below for some spiel that I wrote when I was trying to tempt Ian to part with his Daimler (Its just sat on the inlaws driveway since I purchased it, and I'm probably not going to get chance to do anything with it.) Tried to be as detailed as below, but car has been on the inlaws driveway since I purchased it about eight weeks ago. Drove it back from SE london to Birmingham and not done anything with it since.Issues that seller told me about:Boot lock is temperamental (locked at the moment, but not opened to find out what is the issue - Not even looked in the boot so Lord Lucan could be in there)Does not like to run on less that 1/4 tank. (Believe the 2nd in tank pump is failing. Having asked on here it seems to be a common issue, and if you keep it above a 1/4 should not cause any problems)Dent on passenger side sill (will get some pics)Oil Leak. (Was told its the front intercooler seals, but as above not looked/checked anything out)Rear courtesy light is lodged inside headlining as it kept falling out. There is a adhesive residue mark on the roof the full width of the car, from the back window to half way along the rear doors. (Assume something was stuck to the roof)Issues that I'm aware of that I was not told about.Think front suspension strut tops need changing. At slow speeds you can hear (and feel) a click when the steering wheel is at 11:00 and 13:00. Normal driving not noticeable, just at parking speeds.Drivers window switch is wobbly. Still works but its as though the pivot point has failed, so you have to help it.Electric adjustment of the wing mirrors does not work. (As its both, I assume the switch panel is at fault - see above)Daughter or whoever used to sit in the passenger seats has stuck lots of stickers to the passenger airbag. (Should be easy to remove, but not yet tried)I think from memory there was a bulb out, but will check replace.Good bits:Nice leather seatsElectric and heated. (not tested passenger, but drivers works)Auto dim/dip rear view mirrorEngine seems fineAuto gearbox seems fine.Elec Windows x4Central locking (only working off the key)Dual working climate control.Reg is HD52KUA for Mot history check etc, but MOT end of July.Always uncertain when picking up a "new" car so left London doing about 60 mph in the inside lane, by the time I got to High Wycombe I was in the outside lane with my foot down as wanted to get home. Always worry when selling a car, but really selling this one blind before the MOT runs out. Mot history is decent. from memory its got just under 1/2 tank diesel in it but will check tomorrow Had to pay DVLA for the honour of a V5 so got that in my name. Priced at £120 just to come and collect it as currently SORN and not insured. Was consider using it to travel up North to the R8 Gsi, but think that will cost more than a train for day Insurance and Tax. (Could book for an MOT but set myself a 50 mile limit on that in the past) I'll try and update tomorrow with some recent photo's.
gadgetgricey Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 Found a couple of pics from the original sales advert You can just make out the blunderbuss of stickers on the passenger airbag UltraWomble and stephen01 2
Brodders Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 That really doesn't look that bad at all, especially at that price. If you do decide to go down the raffle route, I will take number 52.
gadgetgricey Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 Give it a couple of days see if any takers. Then will look at starting a roffle after the yeril peril has been "won"
oldcars Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 The mirror switch should be a free easy fix. Just needs the contacts on the circle adjuster cleaned. They all do that etc etc.
Lord Sterling Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I reckon even I'll weigh in for a few tickets. Might palm this off on ole' Ma_Sterling as a cruiser. If space is a serious premium there is some parking here in Bewdley. My Sterling has sat in its space for a while as did the Passat before it got shifted on.
barefoot Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Put me down for a tenners worth. It's the fair wife's birthday, this could be just what she's always* wanted. oldcars 1
wuvvum Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Feck me this is tempting. A man can never have too many diesel Rovers. Cavcraft 1
fatharris Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 That to-do list is fuck all, if anyone is unsure, I smashed loads of these out on that ZT I bought a couple of years ago, documented on here somewhere here with pictures. If a ham-fisted moron like me can do it, anyone could. GLWS, my first 75 was a CDT in Copperleaf, bloody marvellous motor it was too. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
somewhatfoolish Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Now that I've not won the yellow peril I can safely fritter away more money gambling on not winning* this; if there's a roffle I'll have 5 randoms please.
eddyramrod Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Two of them attached to my name please, any two will do.
stephen01 Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 i'm very interested in the car, not far from Birmingham either
gadgetgricey Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 Apologies to all who sent me a pm, but going to withdraw this from sale. Finally got round to the inlaws this morning to get some pics, and three things surprised me. 1) It's sat there unloved for over two months, so I took jumper leads etc. But it just started as though it had been used earlier that morning. No jump leads required. 2) As stated above Father in law actually likes having the car on his driveway as it stops people parking infront of his dropped kerb. (he doesn't drive). Plan in my head was to swap for another, but easier to keep this one and try and do some work on it.3) Selfish I know, but never realised till this morning that the car has a Webasto heater installed. No idea if it works, but my daily driver does not, so will be swapping that over at some point. As said above, apologies to anyone who expressed interest in this copper leaf dream Bobthebeard, The Moog, oldcars and 1 other 4
