Them photos are great! Rhys had a really good time. He enjoyed the avensis more so than the moped. How did the engine swap go?

For those not there we made him do this pointing at the exhumed visa engine.( without the words).

Indeed we do. Beko took it, so we await his post!

Is that an A30?

It's an Austin block. But given the bonnet shape I'd go for a40.

Why is that bloody Maxi in all the FoD photos?

Is this the automotive equivalent of photo-bombing?

And why has it now migrated into the "vehicles in need of some attention" area?

A really fun weekend despite the weather.

Many thanks to Chris & Clare for the organisation.

It was good to meet all who attended and put faces to names.

Can't wait for the next one!

Well I'm home and showered, got to empty the car in a sec! Ace weekend, couldn't think of many ways to spend my 30th birthday, what a coincidence it fell on a FoD weekend!

I didn't take many pictures

Daz took me and Bucketeer to tesco in his taxi, and very nice it was too

2 hours of scraping, clay barring, tar remover, brake fluid, G101 and glass polish got the ruined stickers and overspray off the glass, and tar remover got the baked on crud off the stalks and gear stick

Another few hours of vacuuming and it came up really well! Found a mars bar wrapper with a best before of 2007 under the drivers seat

Then, today at 9am myself and James found ourselves washing Mrs 6cyls car!

Because Chris said I could give his dual action polisher out, as I've never used one before, and fancied a try! And the zx had a pogweasel bonnet and door. So I did both of those, and prefer a rotary for correction, but the da was very good on already OK paint, so accidentally spent 5 hours giving it a 2 stage polish, nice layer of black hole, 2 coats of nattys blue wax, trim gel all round and polished the windows

And now I want a da polisher with the meguiars microfiber pad kit!

I then watched 5 people trying to remove a visa wing mirror

Then sadly helped pack up the field for winter, and drive home. Already got post event blues!

Looks like a fun weekend for all involved. I might be able to come to one one day....

Also, that white ZX Aura is hot.

Also, that white ZX Aura is hot.

It was! Driving Mrs 6cyls around the field felt 'right' too, like sitting in a comfy old friend

Sorry not many photos from me today.

Thanks so much beko for transforming our ZX into a smart car!

One of the dogs was not impressed when we took the tent down and remained in position.

Time to go home 2017.

Another fun weekend in the Field of Dreams :) And this time I came home with free cider so even better! I Look forward to doing more of the same next year.

Posted

I'm sad it's all over. A great weekend in great company and plenty of interesting old cars to fiddle with. We came home with several bottles of cider, some truck magazines and even an original owner's handbook for a Renault 6!

VERY sad not to have made it to the Field of Dreams this year (bar one fleeting visit with Six-Cylinder earlier this year). Looks just as great as I'd imagined. I'm hoping to have better control of the calendar next year...

Engine's not in is it? Looks like the tarp is covering something very large and square ( like a bench with an engine in it) in front of the visa.

Posted

No, the engine isn't in. That's the job for when the FoD opens for the 2018 season! It's under cover. Then once it's in and running I can rub a dirty rag over it!

Posted

Before I put my photos up is there anyone that doesn't want their mug up for the world to fap over admire?

Posted

Can you do it in the AS font? :D

Probably not, I used some android app over breakfast! Someone needs to do it properly though so we can add it to the lexicon!

Whoever can do it, let me know and I'll email the full rez photo over!
