Wife's car dead. Cannock beckons tomorrow morning. What time does the first car go through and what will costs be if anyone can remember? Thanks.

Auction starts at 11:00, cost is 6% of hammer price including VAT, minimum £30

First cars and last cars are the cheapest, but you probably want something better than those, or you can buy my Puma for £300.

And you can't say a Puma isn't a great family car. A friend of mine uses one as daily transport for her, her three kids, and the dog.

She has strict rules with cars sadly. Must be focus size or bigger but not bigger than a vectra size, must be over 2004,petrol and some history also no estates. Less than a grand too. Moon /stick scenario I reckon.

Oh, you'll deffo get something like a Vectra or Mondeo at that age for three figures.

I notice you have no requirement for it to pass the next mot, which is lucky.

I'd stick to something with a ticket that is a month or two old, with a relatively clean previous MOTs. When started up don't forget to check the dash for warning lights and the exhaust for plooms of smoke.

Also don't forget that bench in the corner that is a very competitive bidder... It must have bought or nearly bought many cars in that place!

Fingers crossed you come out with a winner.

One of my life's aims is go to Cannock and buy a car. Ideally something crazy - i.e. ridiculous cheap, really random/different and with a lot of potential to go pop on the drive back.

I'd go for French or Italian, v6 or V8, electronically controlled auto/ manual box, EVERY toy going and history limited to a couple of hand written sheets of bog paper. Wcpgw?

wheres the catalogue

scenic :D

Last week's unsold cars will be this week's catalogue....😀

the Clio I bought from Cannock last year is still going strong, only needing a coil pack on top of its usual servicing

Buyer fees I think were £25 Indemnity on top of the sale,up to 1k IIRC

But we all know you'll be taking home the LDV crewcab that is Always there.....

Actually not a bad idea. Very cheap because French or Italian. Also likely looked after because the type of buyer is unlikely to be buying it for showy reasons.

I'm currently still winning a year later on my French V6, with literally all the options and toys and yes with a computer controlled auto box!

Must have mot too. Will check and check again anything that may fit the bill.

I reckon a few of us should club together, buy some cheap, shitty car, then go have a holiday in it. The ultimate banger rally? Buy and drive.

Remember that most of what's there is it is too broken to go anywhere else. Fine for a punt or a lads trip, but it is the last place I would look for a reliable car for my wife.

Must admit, the thought of a Cliff Richard style summer holiday, half a dozen of us living in a knackered Mondeo, with Bub's kecks drying on the rear view mirror as we stop for the night in a layby isn't appealing.

Agreed - can't think of anywhere worse to source a family car

I did an MOT check a while back on a 10 month old catalogue. It wasn't the best news for a lot of them, but the stuff that wasn't silly cheap seemed to last OK. Obvs £80 Fiestas weren't lasting too well

How about a Shitefest where we have to buy cars from Cannock on the way there?

While Bub will be looking at dodgy French chod in Cannock, I will be missing out on this joyfest to spend 4 hours traveling to look at some dodgy French chod in the middle of nowhere.

Now I'm wondering which of us is the idiot and my only suitable answer is, both of us.

Sorry folks, cannock cancelled. Car acquired this evening. For shits and giggles though I will be Stafford bound tomorrow in the c2 to collect a white reliant robin

Not me, the Mrs. Another vectra c 1.8. She likes them, this was a good spec, low mileage car with service history, cambelt done and two keys.

Dads selling his nice vectra b dti . It's in that blue / green metallic and has the sri interior and wheels . Think he's looking for 850

If that thing grenades soon, I'll be in stitches.

Sorry, but I just can'thelp it.

The last one was bought cheap and lasted 4.5 years. Just threw it's toys out at 160k. I'm hoping this one is OK though. Looks clean and tidy and has history which the dead one didn't have. I have a complete spares car with the same engine and lots of new bits on it, that's why the old one isn't being scrapped.

Ahh jus read thread properly - hope the new one behaves bub

Thank you. Diesels are out the equation due to the Mrs barely doing 10 mile per day to work and back. She only did 28k in 4. 5 years in the old one.

Always thought this was a great idea - meet at various shit auction houses around the UK, buy a shitter and get to the SF destination
