Four Sail: 1997 Volvo V70 CD TDI auto £650, West Yorkshire

I'm picking up what will be my new daily driver on Saturday so the Volvo will be soon redundant. It has never put a foot wrong and I've developed a bit of an attachment to it but I need to adhere to a one in, one out policy for space reasons.

Better pics to follow when I've washed it

MOT til september, 151k miles. It's the top spec (which is next to meaningless in volvos of this vintage but still) and has full cream leather, OBC, climate control, AC, CD/tape/radio with multichanger (needs code), 8 speaker hifi, child seat in arm rest, dog nets, luggage cover (currently removed as stuck), switchable autobox, electric windows x4 and probably some more bits I've forgot. Tyres are ok but not new.

Does 45mpg on a steady run, 40mpg at 80mph and about 37 round the doors, runs on veg very nicely (never tried more than 40l veg to 30l diesel), is quick enough and feels like it will take you to the ends of the earth.

Bad bits: there are a fair few scratches all over the body, worst being over a rear arch and on the back bumper. I can't take responsibility for most of them but they're there. Small hole in drivers bolster, various marks in the headlining and carpets.

It's a solid, scruffy old bus that does a lot of things rather well. No service history but a pile of bills and MOTs, oil and filter changed about 2000 miles ago for quality stuff. It'll probably end up on eBay but I thought I'd see if there was any interest here first

May be interested but cashflow isn't great. Probably would need to sell one of mine.

More pics please too.

Just press CTRL&ALT & the Down Arrow on the keyboard to be able to view the pics

Its CTRL&ALT & the Up Arrow when you want to come back from Australia.

What's the remote on the centre armrest for, or is it a mobile?

Posted

The remote is for the head unit that is in the car now but the original will be going back in

Dang. Very nice Swedechod. I would've had that, except for the distance problem. Would sell for around double your asking price here in Kiwiland, maybe even more as diesels are rare here (that's a good thing in my opinion but let's not go there). But I know that is also no help at all. Good luck with the selling.

I would be all over this, but I've bought the same with a DIY gearbox, which I'm picking up on Saturday.

Mines done 227k and I'm expecting it to feel like an old pair of slippers. Good luck with the sale.

As promised, some better pics. It looked better mucky than after a hasty jetwash after a week of 12 hour shifts but at least these will be the right way up.

It's still taxed and insured until the 31st for test drives. Looks slightly shit but its one of the better cars I've owned, with easily the best stereo

Perfect car for a fast food franchise owner/meth kingpin.

As celebrity endorsements go, I reckon that is a tough one to beat.

I didn't want to overplay it, but yes, it is Gus Fring's car
