Anyway..... Notwithstanding the Hoohar, back on track....

The satin black bonnet with added rain content, de sticked and a steel wheel clean up. It will be running on the old steels. The rest of the car will be similarly satin blacked in due course. Providing you approve.

I think the dedicated server is a monthly billed remote web based hosting type thing, not an actual physical shiny computer in Dave's front room.

I inferred wrongly, then. It was hard to get a true picture of what the money was actually being spent on, but is it not reasonable to assume that housing Autoshite on a dedicated server was paid for with donations received, therefore?

The new model proposed on GoFundMe sounds better resolved. At least I can see what I'm paying for.

I just think it's a bit much to blame or celebrate the departure of some people while bemoaning the "unfair" treatment of another.

This was my other bone of contention, and as yet, it hasn't yet (or will ever) be resolved. I'm relieved Dave's gone. Sorry, that's my opinion. I didn't like how he ran the forum.

Maybe it is just best to let it go Jon.

Time to move on or move out? Not meant in any way you may infer btw.

The clarity is going to be a huge bonus to the place. Also, happily, we're seeing many more who want to chip in (with offers of help etc) than chip away.

That speaks volumes. In my opinion, people were far too trusting with their money previously.

Offer to pay my computer expert mate to oversee still stands. Or put some money in the kitty if my extra monthly income doesn't increase as planned.

Indeed, but when half the forum turns on one of your close friends, it's quite hard to 'pay it no mind'.

Oh heck....

Does anyone like my bonnet? If so shall I paint the car similarly?

Steel wheels in black also? Any chromed stuff on the car to be left as is....

It reminds me of a Corgi whizzwheels car. That's a good thing.

I normally hate satin black paintwork, but i like yours. I think when its normally done, its looks like its been applied by a pissed Stevie Wonder in  a sandstorm. Your's looks well done, i think it will look good when its finished.

Thankyou!

I did take a lot if care over the preparation. Took hours to do the bonnet! Cost is low in terms of materials, but many hours labour.

What are you painting with those 12 cans Strangeangel?

Sadly nothing today, because it's raining. But I'm going to redo the satin black bits on the BX, as they have faded and in places all but disappeared. I have a theory that just repainting these small areas of the car will make its other cosmetic failings less noticeable. Will let you know how that goes...

Reminds me of my stain black xr4i I had as a yoof. needs a straight through pipe, LSD & must be RWD for the correct effect..

The pics you've posted of it so far look good to me, despite what I said before!

What are the sides like paintwise? If they're ok what about just doing a 'black out' hood, roof and trunk lid? Leaving the bumpers and sides in blue.

It might look a bit shit, but if you paint the hood, roof and trunk first at least then you can see if you like it or not. If you don't I reckon your plan is best. Paint the whole lot satin black but leave the chrome shiny still.

The wheels, definitely go black.

The sides are ok really..apart from some holes in the front wings that need fixing. The blue metallic paint will be hard to match. The wheels are staying black.

Do it. Lose all the chrome.

I'm with Dan on this.  Also, if you do decide to go the copcar route, black steels will be perfect!

Satin black says I don't give a feck about my car, it has shite paintwork and I've just spent £30 on paint in order to devalue it another £75

In That London , every other Lamborghini. skyline and Range Rover is wrapped Matt black and they look universally shit. But they probably only spent a couple of grand doing it, I'm sure your Poundshop rattlecan job will look much better.

Don't forget to stencil random zombie related bollocks all over it.

This is where I should put a cheeky smiley thing to show I'm only joking..........

A few years back i made a faithful* replica of this:

out of an old Saab 900. I didn't feel too bad about the satin black application as it had been previously duluxed. Shame it was such a bag of shite really - worst fault was a boost controller problem that dumped all boost if you had the temerity to use the accelerator.

To be fair, I don't think anyone has "got what they want" seeing as what people wanted was a run down of the money situation, a confirmation or denial of an error with everyone's personal details and an acceptance of reasonable offers of help, or at the very least an explanation why help was so very unwelcome. I never saw or got the impression anyone was asking or wanting Dave to leave.

Personally I don't think any of that was unreasonable. I am often found saying to my kids "I have asked nicely several times and now my patience has run out, I'm shouty". Perhaps a lot of the ill feeling could have been saved if Dave answered the questions asked?

And I can't believe anyone thinks the technical side of running this place was going well. Yes it was voluntarily taken on, yes I don't doubt it was hard work but surely that's all the more reason to accept help when it's offered?

This is exactly everything I thought but without the swearing.

But to the car paint. Do the whole thing black and then put OCP stickers on it and pretend you're Robocop

That is brilliant although not quite sure the c900 pulls it off.

Would love to blez around pretending to be Jimmy Caulty....

I'm glad we are all 'beige' :)

"See you, over on the *poondland 'SatinBlack' L8R" isn't quite gelling.

It had a big sub in the boot and we drove to Romania listening to the White Room soundtrack (not the White Room album that was released). That and some heavy reggae and jungle.

I can recommend watchint the White Room movie on YouTube if its still up!

Just a split into 2 factions, the Autoshitean-Enthusiasts and the Enthusiasts-Of-Autoshite.

Fuckin splitters.

And Dave, Master Of Ceremonies, is/was Satan apparently.

Get well soon Dave.
